Churches are non-profit, they do not pay dividends and no "owner" pockets money for their own gain legally.

That they own valuable real estate today is irrelevant. Some real estate becomes valuable over time, some because the church itself invested in real estate, sometimes it is because people leave property to the church when they die, etc.

Valuable real estate is not "money." Churches could sell the assets, but then lack places to worship. But in itself, the land and buildings themselves do not feed anyone.

As for the starving people, the churches already spend billions in world hunger relief each year. The question is, are those efforts only fixing the immediate problem while stopping a long term solution? Free food serves to feed also black market criminal activities and also stops local farmers from producing food since prices become depressed and they no longer can afford to produce food.

A profit organization is one that carries out a business with the sole purpose to making profit
All religious institutions are not covered by this definition and the money they get and properties they build are for the purpose of general good meaning that there is no individual who owns them directly or indirectly it is the given community that owns

Well may be one of the reasons is use those valuable estates for generating money to charity purposes regarding there are no many ways to donate those religious foundations. For sure you can find some corruption in those foundations such as every foundation around world, religious or not religious. Thanks.

Good question. Ask the pope. Or leader of any "church", for that matter. (But the pope HAS been caught wearing Prada shoes. Hmmmm, does anyone know what price they start at? And does this "holy father" (gag) really NEED Prada shoes? )
