Ok about 3 months ago, i went to have a tooth taken out, during the extraction, the tooth shattered leaving all the roots poking out, i went 3-4 times to have the roots removed, finally on the 5th time i went the and had the roots removed, two came out O.K, but the other two just kept on breaking, he removed as much as he could but said there was some left in... i naw have this dull pain, and the hole if filled with what looks like white gunk, is this normal, it tastes funny..?

What is the best drug to take to releive pain..?

Is it ok to have some 'root' left in..??

I would definately be going to see a different Dentist. This guys sounds like a back yard butcher.

If you don't get the roots removed, you could find yourself in a lot more pain than you are now because it can infect your jaw.

It's quite possible that the 'white gunk' you are talking about is pus from an infection.

I agree with the fact that the white gunk with the funny taste is most likely infection. I personally would recommend that you use a warm salt water rinse in your mouth, paying special attention to that area. Be sure not to swallow the water. You might need an antibiotic to get rid of any infection in there. Infection could get into your bloodstream and cause way more serious problems. Please contact your regular doctor or a new dentist today.

My heart goes out to you as I, myself, would rather go through childbirth than to the dentist!! The white stuff sounds suspiciously like infection and the only thing that helps that is antibiotics so another trip to the dentist sounds needed. When you go ask him/her about the pain so maybe a prescription drug can be used. Otherwise, ibuprophen works well. Take care of the infection; as this now has been documented as a possible cause of heart disease, ie: mouth infections!! Very good luck to you!!

Sounds like the dentist you went to is a charlatan. The white stuff is pus and you have an infection. This can become very serious and can spread. Remember, your brain is really close to your teeth! Get to a GOOD dentist. Fast.

find a new dentist asap! this guys an idiot!!! It is never acceptable to have some root still left in, and should NEVER take 5 appointments to remove a tooth either.

ORAJEL - its a regular strength toothache pain reliever gel (toothpaste - for adult). There are other products under this brand that cares for whichever 'tooth stress' you are in. :)

I think you need to go back to a DIFFERENT dentist...that person sounds like he/she did not know what he/she was doing...
