In the book of Judges (Ch.4) there is the case of a woman named Devora (Deborah) who was a prophetess the wife of a man named Lappidot. She was also judge over Israel at the time. The role of judge encompassed more than our modern concept of a judge's role. She was not only a magistrate, judging disputes, but a kind of political and military leader. As such, she had authority over men, who were the main ones involved in political and military matters.

We are not told whether she obeyed her husband, of whom we know nothing since he is mentioned only once, to tell us she was his wife, but certainly the people by and large respected her leadership role even though she was a woman.

However, Israel being a patriarchal and male-dominated society, some naturally had doubts about a woman in a position of leadership. When Deborah summoned the tribal chief of Naphtali and asked him to go to war against an enemy general, he had doubts about it and insisted tat she accompany him or else he would not obey her. Deborah told him that she would go to war with him, but God would give glory for the victory to a woman (which suggests that this would serve as a rebuke to his male chauvanism). It turned out as she had predicted. The enemy general was killed by a woman.

Sister, You are to be subject to your own husband, Only if it don't go against God's laws, & I don't mean the 10 commandments, You obey your husband as in the Lord as You Husband obeys Christ who is his head, If your husband can't obey his head then he can not know how to tell you to obey him, never obey him to a point to where it is going against God's word. I don't even tell my wife how to act or be, She knows it from the bible, & I also obey my head which is Christ, If your husband is not serving God, then your next head would be Christ. That does not mean to throw your husband out, If an unbeliever be pleased to dwell with you, put them not away.

Here are three self-explanatary scriptures of the people you should obey or be submissive to:

Ep 5:22 Wives, submit to your husbands, as to the Lord.

Heb 13:17 Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch over your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

1 Pet 5:5 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to another, and be clothed with humility, for ‘God resist the proud, But gives grace to the humble.’

I believe just your husband,but then the word obey is too strong I think, instead say respect, just as he must you.And even though it is woman that comes from man,the bible contains specific ways in which the man must behave towards her.

Eph 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.
Eph 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
1Pe 3:1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

Are you for real? Christians really can't think for themselves, can they? In all societies, women are oppressed by religion. Religion is against womens' rights and freedom. Geez, the fact that you even want to know what the Bible has to say about it? It was written 700 years ago based on practices over 1000 years old! It's the 21st century, woman!

CHRISTIANITY REQUIRES GENDER EQUALITY AND RESPECT FOR LIFE
by Monnica Terwilliger

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Monnica Terwilliger is an Evangelical Protestant Christian. She belongs to the Foursquare denomination, which was started by a woman, Aimee Semple McPherson. Terwilliger describes McPherson as "a successful evangelist, healer, and pastor because of her strong spiritual anointing. According to a prominent church historian, Vinson Synan, 'She holds a prominent rank among all religious leaders in the twentieth century, regardless of their sex, and may well be the most important ordained woman minister in the history of Christianity.'"
Terwilliger's article is identifiably Evangelical in the centrality it gives in ethical deliberation to the words of the Christian Bible and to the example and teaching of Jesus, considered the Son of God and the Savior of the human race. -- Editor
