Before you got your second one and adopted another kitten to your small family: you and your first cat, did you ever think or doubt that you can love another cat as much as your first? Did you fear that you will differentiate between the 2? That you won't give as much love and affection, warmth and time and care to the second one when he comes along? I want my first cat to have a buddy, but I'm scared that also will mean her needing me less and having less time for me! They say that a cat who has a companion lives longer, just as a human with a companion lives longer. I want what's best for my baby, but after 3 years of me and her alone, I can't see how we can fit a new pet with us.

Two cats are always better than one for many reasons:-
You're saving two lives instead of one.
One cat can become lonely
They help each other burn off energy
Fewer behavior problems with two cats
Curiosity overcomes "food finickyness."
They act as pillows for one another.
Having two cats is insanely fun.
They will each have a friend for life.
I would say that definatley get a kitten rather than an older cat as your baby will except it quicker and nerture it. As most things it will take time but will be well worth it in the end and she will love you for it.

I've never had a problem like that. I have always had two cats at a time, and just cycle in a new addition to my happy brood as they get old and pass away. I recently adopted a rather large male cat as a companion for my female. They fought a bit at first (to establish who was the alpha-cat I suppose) but now they get along great! Just make sure you give personal time to each, as well as time with both of them. Good Luck!

You won't love either less - but the new kitten might naturally require a little more attention. And you'll be lucky if they're friends enough to completely ignore you from time to time, but it's more likely that they'll merely tolerate each other. Either way - you'll still be number one. (I have three - 6 years old, 5 years old and 3 years old, so I know this twice over.)
Just prepare yourself for a very unpleasant living environment for the first two to three weeks while they get used to each other, and while the new one acquires the smell of the "family".

Okay..I grew up on a farm....and still am. My whole life we had tons of cats and all sorts of animals.I've never really had a problem dealing with getting new cats, because over all cats are very independent and take care of them-selves.I've never seen a cat get jealous or anything like that, the one thing I would say though is that you should probably get a younger kitten.it'll be easier on everyone.

looks like an incredible guy! might desire to you supply him my telephone selection? ;) all the adoptions i've got dealt with interior the previous 3 hundred and sixty 5 days at shelter activities have been to couples and ladies. Wait - one one male surgeon. a pal and that i've got been speaking right this moment approximately how there is not often any adult adult males that volunteer with animal shelters, the two. i discover that a noticeably unhappy fact for adult adult males - do not they care approximately helping out the homeless animals? I volunteer with the international's best cats basically no-kill shelter and the only volunteers we've that are male are a pair husbands of volunteers and one boyfriend - something human beings are female. And on the dogs and cat shelter my pal volunteers with the male/female chop up continues to be approximately seventy 5% female and basically 25% male. And we are actually not a gaggle of previous maids, the two. maximum human beings are youthful experts and not too undesirable looking the two lol So there you circulate adult adult males - yet one greater reason to volunteer - you would be surrounded with women folk! C'mon adult adult males, step up and help the animals - it is not only women folk that would desire to be helping strengthen funds, look after the animals and discover them residences!

I am an animal lover, and i think you are reading way too much into this new cat thing. Chill out, and get the other cat. It will only enrich your lives, not detract from them.
