why not try natural products instead of drugs? the scent of lavender on your pillow is suposed to work well, or drinking a warm glass of milk before going to bed helps me a lot, i have a little bit of insomnia myself.

I understand u probably have had a cough and started with benedryl. Most allopathic drugs are dangerous, and it can ruin ones life. The person can faint and fell dizzy and he will speak like a drunkard.

I suggest u take Ayurvedic medicines made of Tulsi or Adulsa, if u have a cough.

Before ur sleep time, drink a glass of hot milk with turmeric and powdered black pepper & sugar and boil it and drink.

Close your eyes and apply Castor oil on your eyes and eyebrows. This will give u good sleep.

Apply little oil on the head and massage it gently, if u have a person who will help u do the massage then it would be better.

The best way to find out how to help your insomnia, is to find out what is causing it. Many different things can do this. Sometimes people have trouble relaxing enough to go to sleep. Some people have trouble slowing their thoughts down long enough to relax. Some medications can cause insomnia, too much caffeine close to bed time, day napping and one of the major causes: stress.
Whatever the cause, there are a lot of things that you can do to help yourself to relax. One thing you can do is to set yourself up with a routine at bed time. This lets your body know that it is getting ready to rest. Such a routine might include taking a warm bubble bath, listening to soothing music, reading a favorite book, yoga or just stretching excercises.
The only things you should to in your bed are sleep and sex. This lets your body know that when you go to bed, it is time for one of these activities. If you watch tv or read in bed, it sometimes confuses your body. Also, try to eliminate as many distractions as you can from your sleeping area.
If your mind is racing, give it something soothing to concentrate on such as soft soothing music or a sound machine that has ocean waves, a stream, rain storm, etc. Sometimes getting your mind to concentrate on one thing can help you to relax.
You may also want to try meditation. There are books and tapes on meditation at your local library and it is very easy to do.
Of course if nothing else seems to work, you should contact your doctor. There may be a physical reason for your insomnia. Just be honest with your doctor and he can possibly find a treatment options specifically for you. Good luck and God Bless! Sweet Dreams!

Hey, just relax. Take bath in lukewarm water, then have a glass of milk(not soo hot) and possibly take fruits(bananas) just before bed. This will surely help you.
