i love my tiel shes a girl her names chirpie she loves to eat from my hand but at odd times do cockatiels make signs when there hungry plz tell me more about cockatiels as i want to learn everything about this great species

some baby cockatiels will bob their heads up and down to beg for food. Some may sqwak. and some won't say anything and starve to death instead. So, be sure that you always have fresh food and water available for her. Cockatiels are very maticulous when they eat they eat. They can pick seeds so perfectly that they still look intact. and many new owners see the shells in the dish and think that they have a full dish of seeds when infact the dish is empty. You should offer a balanced pellet diet for her along with fresh vegetables and fruits. Also, cooked rice and pasta, hard boiled eggs, etc. healthy people food is healthy for your cockatiel. things not to give her which can be toxic are caffiene, chocolate, avacodos, some fruit pits like peach and cherry pits, cig smoke, over heated teflon pots, air freshnes, aerosols, pesticides, etc. As for your question about wing clippings. They should be able to glide to the floor so that they don't crash. However, they should only be able to fly one meter when taking off from the floor. to tame her you'll need to spend time with her. Hold her talk to her, let her perch your shoulder, sit on head ect. they love scritches. rubbed her feathers up (not smooth down) on neck and top of the head where she can not reach to preen. She'll love you for it. It may take you a few times, but sooner or later she will bow her head down and just lay there while you give her scritches.

You shouldnt need to tell if a cockatiel is hungry as you should be leaving a pot of food and water in chirpies cage at ALL times also as she is still a baby i might notice chirpie making like a "crying" "screeching noise" with her held tiled back, they grow out of that pretty quick thou.

Just leave some fresh food for her each day and she should have enough. I used to have one that was soooo tame... she'd let you scratch her head....I have never heard of them being called 'teils. I like it! :)
