The Constitution of India does not permit dual citizenship or dual nationality, except for minors where the second nationality was involuntarily acquired. I don't think India allows dual nationality, which means you can have only ONE passport legally.

i don't think so.
my mum had an indian one after living here for 15 years.
she only recently charged it for a british one so she could travel with the rest of us of some flights.

I guess so. This is because the rule was relaxed few months back by Indian Government during 'Bhartiya Pravasi Divas' (NRI Day). If my memory serves me right, then this was one of the highlights.
