The theory of multiple intelligences was developed in 1983 by Dr. Howard Gardner, professor of education at Harvard University. It suggests that the traditional notion of intelligence, based on I.Q. testing, is far too limited. Instead, Dr. Gardner proposes eight different intelligences to account for a broader range of human potential in children and adults. These intelligences are:
[1] Linguistic intelligence ("word smart"):
[2] Logical-mathematical intelligence ("number/reasoning smart"
[3] Spatial intelligence ("picture smart")
[4] Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence ("body smart")
[5] Musical intelligence ("music smart")
[6] Interpersonal intelligence ("people smart")
[7] Intrapersonal intelligence ("self smart")
[8] Naturalist intelligence ("nature smart")
His homepage [1] offers books, etc., and you can read excerpts, but you can't actually read the books online.

New Horizons [2] offers several articles you can read on-line.

Wikipedia [3] has an extensive reference list at the end of its article so you can track some of them.

infed [4] has a good article with references and links to other articles and databases.

For more, just google "multiple intelligences" and follow some of the links. Happy hunting!

Are you development a webquest for 5th graders to comprehend the thought of dissimilar intelligences? Why not very only clarify the thought and varieties, then have them discover websites that exemplify the wonderful of multimedia studying? seems unusual to apply a single medium (computer) that relies upon particular intelligences to instruct them that not everybody learns nicely employing computers ;) it incredibly is a internet site that discusses a number of those subjects, yet that internet site and maximum others are actually not written for 5th graders, yet for those coaching 5th graders... good success.
