It sounds like he did a root canal (When you hit a tooth, it could damage the nerve) Then he bonded the tooth (A composite resin) It is changing color most because after time composite' does that (Could be from soda, coffee, smoking, anything that could stain your teeth) You could go and have the dentist change the bonding (He would file down the original composite, and re-do it) I would suggest a crown. It last about 10 years, vs composite. However crowns are alot more expensive. With a crown, the dentist files down the tooth into a little nub, and takes an imperssion, then, and new tooth (porcelin) is made in a lab. It is then fitted and cemented over the old tooth. Or, you could do a veneer. They would just save down the surface of the front tooth and place a "cover" on the front. Not quite sure of the price. I am not a dentist, but worked for one for years.

THIS IS NORMAL FOR A TOOTH TO TURN COLOR AFTER A TRAUMA AND WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A ROOT CANAL.

DEPENDING UPON HOW MUCH TOOTH IS LEFT TO WORK WITH, THE BEST TREATMENT MAY BE TO HAVE A POST PUT IN THE TOOTH FOR STABILIZATION AND A CROWN. THE NEWER ALL PORCELAIN CROWNS CAN BE MADE SO THAT IT CANNOT BE DISTINGUISHED FROM A REAL TOOTH.

THIS IS ALL DEPENDENT ON THE CONDITION OF THE TOOTH, THE ROOT CANAL AND THE GINGIVAL TISSUE (GUMS). GO TO YOUR DENTIST AND HAVE AN EXAM WITH X -RAYS, AND PERIODONTAL EVALUATION.

UNLESS AN EXTREME CASE, I WOULD NOT EXTRACT A FRONT TOOTH.

Go to your dentist as soon as you can and get it looked at to make everything is ok.

The crack line would be that the fix is starting to come apart and so it would be a good idea to get it looked at

I would get it pulled and a imitation tooth put in. My husband has this same problem, and it will only cause you problems. They have all kinds of new technologies with false teeth nowdays.
