I'm so sorry you felt you had to drop your brain when you lived as a Muslim!.. What a horrible way to live!..

I've been a Christian all my life, but have recently reverted to Islam, and why? Because I used my brain. I read, researched, prayed, thought, and will not stop doing all those 'till the day I die. True Islam is not about just following a set a guidlelines and not thinking for yourself - it is about thinking EVERYTHING through - your actions, your thoughts, everything, and weighing it all up against the greater good and Allah.

I'm not really bothered about people's backlash on my answer - I don't follow anyone else's "feelings" - only my own. I wish you well, though, and I hope you will find a path that fills the gap in your spiritual life as I have.

I know plenty of Muslims and they are intelligent, happy people. You have proven in your many questions that you are not intelligent because you constantly give mis-information or tell only part of the story. You are obviously not happy either or you would not be on this hate campaign against something you know nothing about. Anyone who knows about Islam knows you are NOT a former Muslimah.

I think they think of themselves all the time already.....
And I never think for a second that God is vengeful for those who against Islam. Who make that rule? God is basically love. For sure. God loves everyone, Islam or non Islam. Why still there is a human here who dared to say that God is vengeful towards those who oppose Islam? Is he considered himself as God?

You should take a look in Indonesia or middle east countries where Muslims generally do behave in a very rascal, conventional, impulsive, extreme, authoritarian and tempestuous way. They burned churches, created any worst calamities possible and shattered anything that is considered 'against' their belief ----still---- they 'protect and cover' their pride and dignity using Islam religion as their fortress of their self defenses and self righteousness.

And we have to confess here that most of the deadly devastating terrorism attacks ever happened in this world mostly derived by Muslim countries and by Muslim people.

So from this point on, the world view Muslims as volatile and violent people ever. Even Islam is not really a horrendous religion at all but the doers of Islam generally are tumultuous and turbulent.

Do you even know any Muslims or are you getting fed FOX News editorials. I have a lot of friends who are Muslim and they aren't some brainwashed jihadists that pandering news organizations try to make them out to be.

Are there some who zealously follow their beliefs? Yes, but you can say that about Christianity or any other religion and to no lesser degree. Open your eyes and get to meet some as human beings.

I'm agnostic, but I don't go judging all Christians by the bible thumping priest who stands out on the corner of campus telling us all that the end is near and we'll all be damned to hell.

We don't wear our religions on our sleeve. The loudest don't represent the norm.

Muslims do think for themselves.there are many Muslims who invented and discovered many of the things in science we use today.and just because we follow a belief system that doesn't make us ignorant.if you call Muslims ignorant just because they follow the quran.then you are one ignorant beings yourself.because Jews, Christians follow a religious text as well.and just because you left islam that doesn't mean islam is bad.and i highly doubt you were even a Muslim

i can smell a fake ex-muslim a mile away.stop trying to destroy islam you lil hate monger.

Mostly because they were indoctrinated from birth into a belief system that discourages independence and critical consideration, choosing instead to perpetuate an ignorance powerful enough not only to oppress contradictory ideology and science, but to incite violence and war. So basically it's the same reason most theists don't think for themselves.

And to the people speaking of science, I interpreted the question as relating only to theological issues. Of course Muslims think for themselves artistically, scientifically, et cetera.

And Ghazzali was much smarter than you, arguably beats Aristotle, and he was Muslim. The reason why many people pick Islam is because they DO think for themselves.

That is a real good question... But back up a little. Why do so few people think for themselves? Partly because most people value social acceptance more than they value truth. It is also because almost all "schools" are formatted to try to teach people WHAT TO THINK, rather than teaching them HOW TO THINK. As an example, Scriptures teach that "the soul that sins, dies." and "the dead know nothing" and "the dead do not praise the creator". Are these ideas in harmony with your understanding (assuming you are "Christian")? If not, why are you following men rather than following the Almighty (and His Scriptures)?
