Nothing much would really happen, you are after all talking about people who already hold a belief system that defies logic. I have even thought that if an alien civilization were to contact us that had already been advanced enough to visit earth while it was still a lifeless void, and if they had documented the entirety of our evolution over the last 4.5 billion years and could show it to us along with samples from every stage including the so-called missing link that those with religious beliefs would still hold onto them and reject any evidence to the contrary,as they have done for the last 2000 years. The Bible,Quran, etc have already had many brushes with science proving some part of them wrong all to no avail. They either deny the evidence right in front of their face, kill the messenger, change the interpretation or some other mode of holding onto their irrational, illogical superstitions.
Previous answers already have proven my point but I find it interesting that creationists will often say that intelligent design is proven by the "fact" that Earths placement from the sun in order to be able to support life is so precise, and yet then you have Christians here saying that if God can create life here he can create life anywhere. So how can he create life on a planets whos position from the sun is not so precise when Earths placement is so needed to be able to support life? Which is it? Just a thought.

Well, I suppose I can answer a bit of this question, but this is only my opinion, mind you!
In no way shape or form does it say in the Bible that there is no life out there, except on earth. It says that Earth was set aside like a jewel, or something to that effect. I find it amusing daily when so called Christians don't even know what there Book says. Half the time they leave it to their Preachers and Clergy to tell them what the good Book says. If they would just take a moment a day and read a bit of it on their own they won't be so surprised.
Well, my opinion!
Good Luck with this one

There is a fairly decent possibility that some form of microbial life may exist on Mars. I'm agnostic, but if there IS a "god", they would have to be infinite by definition. Thus, the religious folk are correct when they say that an infinite "god" could just as well have created life all over the Universe. When one is "infinite", then creating life on one planet or on a million planets is all the same, done in the same blink of the eye. Blessings on your Journey!

Why should anything happen to religion, if we find life on Mars. Are we so arrogant to think that we are all there is in this great universe? God created this great universe, He knows what each planet is formed from, He knows why there is a order they are in. He may have created life on Mars. That would be no surprise to Him, it just perhaps has taken mankind longer to learn of it. I would still believe in Creator God & His son Jesus.

If God is capable of creating life on earth, He can create life any where in the whole universe. Why should this surprise anyone?

Religion will still exist. The Bible speaks of life forms in other realms and extra terrestrial entities.

The Christians will say, "The life on mars is only a theory!"
Most everyone else will say, "Ah, see how tenacious life is?"
If you mean "Life that is now dead as it did not survive,
Christians- "It is only a theory!"
Everyone else- "Wow, evidence that Mars was once hospitable!"
