Well only a few people have bigoted views. Most whom God guides to the straight path realize the truth about Islam. It's mostly because of the propaganda in the media that people have negative views. And unfortunately the many terrorist criminals have ruined the image of the majority of Muslims.
We have protection under the constitution as well so need to worry. Just do our good deeds while we are alive and await judgment from God.
Peace Be With You

I don't have a problem with Muslims so much as Islam. I've got loads of Muslim friends, I let them believe what they want, I know that they're quite tolerant. But in predominantly Muslim countries there isn't tolerance of other beliefs, there is no allowance of free choice of religion, other religions are persecuted.
And I'm aware that this is a generalisation but it seems that there more seriously people take Islam, the more intolerant and likely to blow themselves up they are.
As a Christian I believe that I should love God and others. So the more seriously I take my belief, the more loving I'll become. Whereas it seems that the emphasis of devout Muslims is to try and help Islam take over the world, whether by conversion or suppression of other beliefs, or murder. That seems to display a lack of faith in God to work his purposes out and a desire to take matters into one's own hands.
God's kingdom isn't of this world, its a heavenly kingdom.

Unfortunately, the Muslim world is in the grip of those who use it for political purposes; hence the Iranian comments about eliminating Israel etc.
A great deal of the Muslim world is relatively uneducated, often illiterate and poor, unlike the more wealthy middle-eastern countries. Indeed, some of the most undeveloped societies in the world, and some of the poorest, include places like Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
There is the further problem of authority, in so much as the Muslim way does not recognise any sort of religious hierarchy, and as a consequence, anyone can set themselves up as an Imam. These religious leaders can be anything, from wise and cultured people, to extreme Islamists who want to destroy all that is not the same as themselves.
Extremism is extremism in any language and any culture, and there is not much difference between the ramblings of Dr Ian Paisley and the terrorism of the IRA; both of which have used Christianity as their platform for political ambition.
Any religion, IMHO, which needs to engage in political machination, is a misguided and lost religion, and that applies to all faiths and none, as the case may be.
The real crisis which true Muslims face is that of finding a moderate, calm and credible way, when so many are politicised and extremist.
Our problem....their problem....is not with the Muslim faith as such, but with those who have hijacked it and brought it into disrepute.
As a gay man, there are many problems I have with Muslim views and many Christian views also, but I know that were I to sit down with good Mulsims and Christians, whatever their view, we could discuss it openly and rationally: perhaps agreeing to differ.
Were I to try that in Iran, I would probably be strung up.
Tragically in my view, it is the failure of moderate Muslims (and Christians) which has brought us to this division, because they have failed to energise and inspire people; thus allowing the more extreme voices to dominate the agenda.
It is doubly tragic when one considers the FACT that the Muslim world was once more enlightened, more progressive, better educated and more just than any other. Go to Andalusia in Spain, and marvel at the civilisation and beauty of the place, created by Moroccon Muslims (the Moores). They turned an arid desert into a garden, built beautiful cities, introduced great art treasures, had universal education, health care, paved streets and gave this freely for all to enjoy. Meanwhile, in the Christian dominated areas of Europe, people were much less educated, civilised and just, as they trampled along muddy streets and wore rags.
There are many Muslims (and progressive Christians) who yearn for a return to that enlightenment, but they, like us, are possibly the victims of fear and the possibility of reprisals from the more extreme elements of politicised Islam.

Are you joking? While I don't support it, people are suspicious of Muslims because of the Twin Towers, Ossama Bin Laden, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, the Tube Bombs, The Danish Cartoosn, etc etc. Then we have the controversy over women who insist on wearing veils, And all this while the West is condemned as a capitlist society. Don't you read your newspapers? Every week there's a warning of a security threat.
I don't agree with it - the Muslims I know are just average joe's, nice people. A few have given most of you a bad name. And this stupid question didn't help.

Try Fear & a lack of understanding my friend, that is why Muslims are singled out, also because there has been in the last 7 years 9-11 & the July bombing in London which has made people more aware of the Muslims in general for the wrong reason!

I could help you a bit to open your 'eyes', of why people mostly single Islam and Muslims out......
I don't single Muslims out. But you should take a look in Indonesia or middle east countries where Muslims generally do behave in a very rascal, conventional, impulsive, extreme, authoritarian and tempestuous way. They burned churches, created any worst calamities possible and shattered anything that is considered 'against' their belief ----still---- they 'protect and cover' their pride and dignity using Islam religion as their fortress of their self defenses and self righteousness.
And we have to confess here that most of the deadly devastating terrorism attacks ever happened in this world mostly derived by Muslim countries and by Muslim people.
So from this point on, the world view Muslims as volatile and violent people ever. Even Islam is not really a horrendous religion at all but the doers of Islam generally are tumultuous and turbulent.

The muslims I know are peace loving tolerant people (I'm Christian) and have the same philosophy as I do - live and let live. Unfortunately many people can't see past their tv screens and only see palestinians dancing in the streets after 9/11, muslim suicide bombers blowing up pizza huts full of teenagers and tube trains full of innocent commuters being blown to pieces. The media constantly links the word Muslim with terrorism. Therefore people tend to have a negative view of the followers of Islam. No other ethnic minority makes the demands that Muslim's do. Rightly or wrongly Muslim leaders need to do something to address this way of thinking.

Its not because people are racist, its because Muslims bring attention to themselves, think of do you know of any other religious group murdering people at the moment, in the past yes, there have been others, and I don't mean that I'm getting at them because I have many Muslim friends who are as fed up with there people as the rest of us, so the answer to your question is they bring it themselves, and I agree with each to their own.
Love & Peace
