But will it seem cruel that i have him neutered. He is an indoor cat and stays up in the 18 storey, im sure he won't get a scent of a female cat up there or will he?And if its possible can someone tell me the side effects of neutering it

Yes, please have your cat neutered.
It cuts down on the risk of cancer, it will help him become less agressive...he may not be agressive now since he's young, but when he gets older it may become a problem.
Also if he hasn't already started to spray having him neutered will GREATLY reduce the chance that he'll ever start.
IF he has already started to spray having him neutered may stop or at least cut down the spraying.

Also I don't care how high up you live, if he senses a female in heat he WILL find a way out or drive you nuts TRYING to find a way out.

Please for his health alone, get him neutered.

There are no adverse side effects to having a male cat neutered. He will be a happier cat and much easier to live with (more gentle and loving) and it is pretty awful to live with the urine smell from an unneutered male cat! And you should do it right away before he starts spraying your home.

Both of you will be happier when he is neutered.

It would be cruel to not get him neutered. Unfixed cats require more territory so he will be tormented living inside like that. Also he'll want to meet hot kittens and won't be able to so will be frustrated. He will be a much more docile cat if you get him done, they can be aggressive if not done & he is likely to spray (urinate) all over your apartment re being extra territorial. Personally in my country, no one keeps a cat in an apartment, it's considered cruel as it's not natural for them (likewise with declawing cats, please don't do that, I've known people in the USA & Canada who did that & their cat became psychologically disturbed & was never the same again).

Compared to the side effects of NOT neutering? The smell of an un-neutered male's urine is very hard to get rid of and eventually he will mark territory (spray)with this vile smelling urine. There are also health benefits to consider...please talk to a vet- he can give you much sound information.

The only answer is YES!! For your own sanity. Yes it'll hurt a bit - but they get over their sterilisation pains very quickly (and it's not as big a procedure on a male as it is on a female). He's at that age when he's going to start "spraying" - and once he starts that, nothing will ever make him stop!! And nothing on this planet removes the smell of cat p!ss...

Get him neutered. Regardless of if they are a totally indoor cat they will still mark territory and unaltered males are more likely to get cancers.

You should get it neutered before he starts yowling and spraying to mark his territory. The procedure is very quick and the doctor will give you some antibiotics to prevent an infection. Once he's neutered, do be careful about his diet so that he doesn't get too fat. Get plenty of toys and make sure he gets exercise.

yes he is deffinatly old enough to be neutered. if you wait too much longer there is a chance that he will start spraying and once that starts even after neutering, there is a chance that he will continue to spray. also he isn't going to wonder looking for a mate if you let him out. it is just all around a good thing and get it done sooner than later.

Yes have him neutered. He will be scent marking his territory soon if he hasn't started already. This means he is urinating on the furniture and in corners of your apartment. If you don't want this to happen or if you want it stopped you must get him fixed. He will be a happy, healthier kitty after he is fixed. And you will be a happier pet owner.

Yes, definitely. Neutered males are almost guaranteed to not develop spraying problems, are more affectionate, and less likely to roam far if they get out.
And when the females are out & in heat, he WILL get out.
Kudos to you for being a responsible pet owner :)
