Right.. I feel quite offended by "Tisha" 's answer. I am part french and I have to say that I do not know where she got this factual information about French people being the first people putting things in their mouths, since I believe Homo Sapiens were the first human beings and did not have any national identities as yet. But I am certain they put things in their mouths. Such as food.
Now to answer to the question, I would have to say that French people have been known as being very sensuous (senses). Through their cooking, their beautiful clothes, their arts etc... I am not certain that they were the first people to kiss with their tongues and therefore enhance the touchy feely sensuality of the kiss, but I am certain ti was called after them because of that.

Hopes it helps.

French kisses are kisses in which you also use your
tongues. (That's why you part your lips slightly.)
So, after you've started kissing, the next step
is that either he will slip his tongue into your
mouth or you'll slip yours into his. Don't let your
tongue go limp but move it around his, or playfully
push his tongue out with yours, then let him
push your tongue back into your mouth, and so on.

Repeat this until you get tired of it (which you never will!)

It is an historical fact that the French have always been the first to put any object into their mouths. Another person's tongue was merely a statistical inevitability. Of course, once a French person tries something, the entire world follows, just like with fashion.

Sarah Michelle Gellar gave an explicit description and demonstration in the movie "Cruel Intentions".

While technically flawless, you may be put off by the fact she's explaining to (and performing on) another girl.

Selma Blair, to be precise.
