Then they would have the tail they are susposed to have. Dogs use their tail for balance and communication. The ONLY good reason to have a dogs tail amputated is if the dog gets what is called "whip tail"

This is actually becoming illegal in Britain unless the breeder can prove that the dog is a working dog.
It is considered cruel and inhumane if the dog gets this done when he is any older than a few days (3-4) as the bone in the tail develops more and therefore it is more painful.
I myself think it is a useless thing to do, why put a poor helpless puppy through it in the first place? It has no benefits. A dog uses his tail to express emotion. When he his happy he will wag it. When he is scared he will put it in between his legs. Why take that away from him? If the tail caused him any harm he would not be born with one. All animals are born with body parts that help them adapt to their environment.
This is mainly carried out on all Terrier and Spaniel breeds, all Pinschers, German Shorthaired Pointers, Boxers, Old English Sheepdogs, and many others. The exact length is specified in the breed standard.
Hope this helps :]

You don't need to. It's just AKC's dog breed standard. Some breeders like to go by that standard. I think that only if the dogs were of show dog lineage that their tails COULD be docked. But that is the breeder's choice. People must realize, anything that can bleed & breathe air, can feel pain (yes, even little newborn pups). And nothing will happen if the tail isn't docked, since it has absolutely nothing to do with health. Personally, I like dogs better with tails. I believe that if they were born with a tail, they have the right to keep that tail. My advice, don't dock your pup's tail!!

You do not need to cut a rottwilers tail just because it is a rottweiler, it should only be docked at a early age and if realy needed for the dogs safty and well being.

First, of all, unless the tails wer docked by three days of age, it should not be done. There is no really need to do it and it is currently done to stay with the historic look of the dog. It is banned in the European Union.
Historically, Rotties tails were docked to prevent breakage or infection due to mud and debris while the dogs were working in the pastures. (Rotties were war dogs and also cattle dogs- guarding and droving/herding- then police dogs later)

Tails are docked to prevent damage,I breed boxers and for this reason they are docked a tail being docked on a 2 day old puppy is a painless procedure but an amputation in an older dog after damage is a very painful, complicated and distressing surgical procedure.Check out the council of docked breeds website to see the type of damage and pain caused to older dogs also to see video of 2 day old pups being docked in prescence of their mother then make up your mind which is crueller, this is not a cosmetic op for owners vanity but a necessary op for dogs health and wellbeing

You don't. Cropping the ears and tail are only done to make the animal look scarier and meaner, as they're generally used for gaurd dogs.
There's no need to. Ever seen a floppy eared, loing tailed Doberman? Cutest thing ever!

you dont need to at all. If you dont cut it it will just be normal like any other dogs tail. People only cut them off for the look of it, and mostly cruel people who use them for fighting, so that their tail won't get in the way. It is very cruel and painful to cut off a dogs tail. Just leave it and it will be no different to any other dog that has a tail.

I agree with most people who say this is done for looks, and no real medical reason. People who fight dgos cut their tails, no matter the breed, so the other dog has nothing to grab on to, and I personally have two, gorgeous adult rotts with floppy ears and long tails - they will, however, beat you half to death when they get happy!
