They are quite stunning especially on a hillside in the middle of a dense forest. It provides a nice contrast and often a gorgeous vista. The only drawback would be that they can hurt bird populations which could detract from the beauty if the birds take a new flight path.

I think they're pretty intriguing. I live in a very flat part of Ohio and they have installed 4 large turbines on a landfill. I guess if you're going to put something like that in, why not put it on something that is already not the best thing to look at. Also, I know they are researching installing them on the shoreline of Lake Erie. Look up the Great Lakes Science Center for more info. Having a bank of them out on the lake, just on the horizon, would be kinda cool, not to mention useful.

I don't believe that wind turbines are particularly ugly. However one of the problems with wind turbines is that in order for them to be most efficient they must be in specific areas (usually hill sides, near-shore, offshore...) and often end up ruining beautiful natural landscapes.

Compared to a nuclear or fossil fuel power station? Absolutely stunning!!! If you go back more than 100 years there used to be windmills all over the place so we are just replacing them with bigger more elegant turbines.

Wind turbines are probably the greatest waste of space ever imagined, or perhaps second only to federal buildings.

They consume a great deal of space and produce a very low volume of power. Who really believes that this is a viable "renewable" energy source? You'd have to have a wind farm the size of Texas to power a single medium-sized city!

(Just think what that would do to the spotted owl population!)

Quite beautiful in the right place. I've seen some off shore rising out of a mist - magical!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

But every technology has its place. This one has its drawbacks too, but if properly designed and placed can be extremely useful in providing energy.

B E A U T I F U L ! ! !

I would love to have a dozen of them in my backyard just to have power uninterruptedly 24/7, and besides, protect the environment.

Both.

They are not particularly nice to look at. But when you consider they are working hard to keep our world beautiful - then it gives them a bit of an endearing quality.

I can live with em if they help keep this planet that I love gorgeous.

Beautiful, and saving the planet too. Can't see what people have against them! Perhaps they'd rather have a nuclear power plant on their doorstep.
