How could u be a MORAL & a PRODUCTIVE person in society when u hear JUNK music calling women B*** & advocate shooting & killing, while movies promote infedelity, sex#, crime & all the worst behaviour ?
Now a days anyone who could open his mouth could be a singer, no matter how horrible his voice sound. All he/she has to do is dance half naked & wave his arms like a monkey. No talent , no nice voice & words that does not make sense in his so called song, as if he/she wrote it while taking a sh*t.
I just listen to the 70s & 80s music & see the huge difference between talent of the past & no talent of today.

I'm glad to see someone still has a sense of decency about them. Good for you, cappacino. I think entertainment today is nothing more than downright decadence.

Wrong section but its a good point any way.

I agree that there is plenty of junk out there to filter through and too many celebrities are self centered morons but Hollywood produces what the people want...in one narrow respect. I think that's changing some though. I've noticed more inspiring stories coming out on recent years that tell more human stories. The Pursuit of Happyness, Dreamgirls, We Are Marshall, etc. Of course you'll have a glut of pretty tasteless and moronic movies: Every Scary Movie as well as both Jackasses...

Music is just the same. I think there is a slow moving but growing trend to move away from the trash we see now. It will be a few years coming but it will come. Put your money where your mouth is and start spending your money on the positive and more of it will be produced. Push for it. Support it. Watch it grow.

I agree 80% I think most of them should just shut up! I do however believe in the power of ignoring them. Case in point Miriah Carey... She became a big Diva and that turned people off ... she bombed a while and now as she makes a come back acts a little nicer. Eddie Murphy made some pretty rude anti white statments in the 80's and had a string of unsupported works including many boycotted shows that nobody attended. He learneed to Shut up and now is riding High again.

There are lots of really good actors and singers out there. Ones with lots of talent, lots of creativity, and important things to say. Ask yourself why they aren't the ones that are famous?

Pop culture is a reflection of society as well as helping to shape it. The business of Hollywood is out to do one thing...make money! So they go for the lowest common denominator.

Tastes in Art, Creativity, and Talent change. But people are always going to buy sex. They're always going to slow down and rubberneck a car crash. They're always going to watch and laugh at someone humiliating themselves in public.

You want to be a good person? Don't let them control you. Don't let them program your mind. Don't make excuses that you can't do this or can't do that because of TV or music or pop culture. That's weak. Take it for what it is but fill your head with things that you enjoy and want to emulate. They're harder to find but they're out there. And as a bonus, by searching them out and telling people you'll be helping spread the message.

For the sake of argument, don't you think that art imitates life, as the old saying goes?
I think your argument is too simplistic, and a bit backwards. None of these 'artists' would be in business if there was no market for their wares. If society were more moral and stopped supporting what is being produced then it wouldn't be produced any longer.

Movies are for entertainment and they sell what the people want. So, I guess if you dont like it go to Blockbusters and rent those movies you yearn for.
