It's because everything else in their body is more elevated. They have higher normal ranges of Hematocrits, higher normal ranges of Hemoglobin, higher normal ranges of Red Blood Cells....higher normal ranges of molecules.. Not only that their Body Mass Index is higher (Muscles, Bone Density... you name it)

So I guess they need more ATP to keep that production going ;)...

Because males generally weigh more than females. They need more calories in order to supply a greater muscle mass.

Males, in general, have more total pounds of muscle tissue, and a higher percentage of muscle as a percentage of body weight. Muscles tissue requires more calories than fat tissue.

Muscle tissue burns calories, and fat tissue just stores them. So more muscle tissues means more calories are burned, and more calories are required.
