just wondered if childminders get any notice for their inspection visits, I know nurseries do which personally I think is a bit stupid as it can be staged instead of viewing what really happens.
U.K. answers please as asking re U.K. childminders.
Cheers.

Yes they do they get told which month they are coming, they don't know which day or anything.
I used to work in a nursery and to be honest the only thing we used to do when we knew our inspection was coming was to make sure we had all of our paper work in order. If you have any doubts about your childminder at all, just pop in unexpectidly with your childs bag which you accidently forgot to drop off in the morning.
Other things you should take into consideration are your child's age, they may tell you things that are wrong. Do they hate being left in the morning and rush to you when you pick them up, do they look miserable when you walk in her house. Do they have too many accidents, come home in wet, soiled clothing?
You can access her inspection visits on the ofsted website all you need is her childminders number, this will also show any complaints made about her but only ones from the past four years.
If you really are not happy with your childminder then take your child out, and maybe use a nursery, at least there are other people working in the room and will not let anything untoward happen.
Good luck x

yes they do. The best way to make sure that everything is as it should be is for you occasionally, unexpectedly, arrive early to pick them up.
