make sure you arrange an overdraft facility with your bank !!!!
this way you wont get soppy charges placed on you !!
if you have not got that in place £35 is the going rate

Apparently if you write to them they will refund any payments that you have made to them. It was on the news a while ago. apparently it costs them less to do this than it would for administration etc if you were to appeal against the charges. i dont know if this is true but its def worth a try. iv been charged a few times for silly amounts (like £1 overdrawn) and after a bit of persuading the charges were cancelled!!

If you can document that the charge was canceled prior to hitting the bank, they should credit your account. I would talk to the bank and explain the situation. As long as you can show them proof the charge was canceled, it should not be a problem.

Your rights are simple - you can pay up and stay or pay up and close your account. Banks have us all over a barrel when it comes to charges.
However, in your situation I would appeal directly to the bank manager or online banking supervisor and tell them how you feel about treated so badly.
They can waive the charges actually and given the amount of bad publicity surrounding banks at the moment for just such charges, they would be stupid not to hear you out.
Go for it.

who do you bank with.. add that to ADD DETAILS.

If you have never been charged before, or in the last 6 months I think they will refund or exempt the charge.

Call the bank, get the name of the person, time and date etc, so that if you do get a charge, you can say that you spoke to ??? at 17.00 on 08.01.06 and they advised me that I will not be charged for example they will look through the notes..

without an attitude go talk to your banker. if it is an error or a same day problem they will usually waive their fees.

unless you have an agreed overdraft then your rights are that you have to pay them the money!
you have spent their money without their permission, therefore they want it back and charge "emergency" interest on it, hense 35Quid....
