They want nuclear power for the same reasons everyone else wants it. They want it for peaceful purposes AND for weapons. Just like US. They are very scared of Israel nuking them and I don't blame them. Israel is out of control and has forgotten where they were 60 years ago. Now they are the oppressors. I doubt very much that Iran would strike first if they had nukes but you know damn well the Israelis are itching to nuke someone so they show how powerful they are. I wouldn't put it past them to nuke civilian targets either. Any race that considers themselves to be "Gods chosen people" can rationalize any action by telling themselves they are doing Gods will. If Iran has no way of defending itself from such an attack what is stopping the Israelis from doing whatever they want. That is how the Cold War worked if one side were to have become more capable than the other there would have been no balance and there would have been a nuclear war. Read your history.

The reason Iran would want nuclear weapons is to neutralize any chance the U.S. has of bossing it around. This is why North Korea got nuclear weapons, which is the only real use for nuclear weapons in this day and age.

If you do not believe this as the truth, then ask yourself why the U.S. hasn't disarmed it's own nuclear weapons. Don't play favorites.

Iran won't build nuclear weapons, even if they do they won't be able to use them against the Isrealis anyway. Why did Ahmedinejad want to "wipe Isreal off the map"? Becuase of Palestine. If he used nuclear weapons he would also kill lots of Palestinians, no one will let theat happen.

So get real, who are you guys getting your info from Bush & Blair, the guys that knew for sure that Saddam had nuclear weapons? That Saddam could launch a nuclear strike in 45 mins? No my friend you get real!
