Yes - Only recently!
You can now purchase - Optrex infected eye and Brollen eye cream over the counter with out a prescription.
Optrex Infected Eye is apparently the most effective form of eye medication available without prescription.

Speak to ypur pharmacist you can get chloramphenical drops over the counter. This is often what your Dr would perscribe for eye infections.
Bear in mind that some types of conjunctiveitis(red eyes) are viral and won't respond to antibiotics

Yeah you can get viscotears over the counter and boots do their own brand which are for eye infections such as pollen eye and dry eye (Which a symptom is watering eye) but I would suggest having and eye test and the Optician can advise to which eye drop is better for you

I had an eye infection, and bought Golden Eye, it contains Antibiotics, and you do not need a prescription for it.
But its alway best to speak to the Pharmacy as they are trained up to give you safe advice.

Don't bother with Optrex or Viscotears, Chloramphenicol is the way forward. This has very recently come off prescription so that would be far better!

Boots are brilliant at looking and recomending the right stuff. I wear contacts and when I had an eye infection they knew which solution I was using with my lenses and which eye drops I could use with that.

Yes, you can. Just ask to see the pharmacist. You may be referred to an optician but the pharmacist is your best bet. Don't wait either.
