Met a man 6 weeks ago, he was going on holiday over xmas &said he wld call after the hols, but it was the xmas period so i was unsure if he meant his holidays or xmas & new year. Anyway he did not call at all so i texted him saying hi a few days ago and he responded saying he lost my number, was really pleased i texted, idle chit chat re going back to work and his hols and that no doubt we wld meet up soon &signed it with a kiss. He did not however ask me out.
1) was that a polite brush off
2) is he just busy and will likely call in a week or 2 with a date
shld i just get the fact he is just not that interested or is it possible he is just really shy & keeping things light.
any suggestions - shld i answer his txt or leave it?
i havent been obsessive or pining for him or checking my phone, but he was a sweet nice gentleman and i wld at like to be at least friends and see if something develops no pressure but not sure how to instigate that? any suggestions??

Ask him straight. Life is too short to waste your time waiting... I knew a very sweet gentleman who behaved just like that; he was interested but not all that keen to make it anything serious... So it's up to you to decide what you want off the relationship. Good luck!

I would suggest that you don´t read to much into this.
He could have lost your number.
He might just be happy that you texted him.
The only thing you can do is to be polite and talk to him as a friend, not hoping for more and not trying to think to much about it. Women tend to think a lot and men just do. I don´t think he sceemed to get rid of you.
Just go along with it otherwise you will ask yourself "What if?". And it´s better to have a no, then not putting yourself up for a no.
A no can easily be a yes instead. So don´t think to much about it and do as you say yourself, see if something develops further.
If he doesn´t keep in touch just do as your gut tells you to.
Either you send a friendly hello or you continue without him.

he's either really shy, or just not that interested. either way, i would let him do some of the running around now. if he's that serious about wanting a relationship with you, he'll make the effort. answer any texts that he sends you, even if he just wants to be friends to start with, it could develop into something more with time.

Hi, I think the best thing you can do is reply "nice to hear from you again, you have my number if you ever fancy meeting up" and leave it don't keep texing, just leave it up to him and get on with your life and maybe he will contact you and maybe he won't. But please do not sit at home waiting for his call, get out there and meet people live. Sheila

Dont put too much thought into it, if he is interested he will call, if not he wont. You dont have any time invested in him so either way you can't loose. Writing him a bunch will make you look desperate.

i think your best bet is to stop thinking about him, it was probably a polite brush off.
however he might just ask you out in a couple of weeks. guys dont like clingy girls, so dont act that way. dont sweat it either, and dont have high hopes, because you dont want them to be crushed.

but don't hold your breath.
there are plenty more nice guys out in the world

may sound harsh but sounds like polite brush off- like he has you on standby for a rainy day or something.
Better to move to better things!
Good luck!
