The clonazepam is 1mg, and I have taken 1 pill before for anxiety and panic attacks but last time I got to the bed and went to sleep. I don't want to go to sleep yet, but I just want to calm down. Can I just take 0.25 mg by breaking the pill in a quarter and take it? The bottle says it's 1mg. And it says take 1 pill three times a day.
I just want to be sure the pill can be broken. Its round, a bit flat, light green and has a line break in it.

I've cut down my Klonopin tablets into quarters and done just fine with that. However, to be absolutely sure, you may want to call your doctor and ask. He or she may be able to prescribe you .5 mg tablets next time.

Yes, you can break them. I do all the time and they work fine. (UNLESS IT IS "CR," CONTROLLED RELEASE CAPSULE...THAT CAN MESS IT UP.) IF SO IT WILL CLEARLY SAY SO ON THE LABEL. YOU can also call your pharmacist and ask. Should be ok tho. They are very sedating; but remember, your doctor who prescribed it probably feels you need more to control your anxiety disorder. (that is what I have to take it for). Klonopin is long acting as opposed to a Xanax. It is supposed to help you stay calm over an extended period of time whereas a Xanax works within 20 mins of taking and wears off about 4 hours later.

I wouldn't do that. The reason is because clonazepam is a time-d release version of Xanax. Usually timed release pills have special coatings that control the gradual relase into your system. When you split these pills, you are cutting through the time release coatings and you can end up getting way to much medicine way to quickly. Another med. like this is Oxycontin, which is so powerful when crushed that it is a top dollar street drug now.

That is a totally incorrect and asinine answer. Klonopin is not "time released xanax" it is a totally different drug.

Yes it can be broken, but if you need a lower dosage you should talk to your DR. so he can prescribe the correct amount

Yep, it should be fine to break it in smaller portions!
