I know it's kinda gross, but speaking of weird priorities... It is part of the Ten Commandments. Please do not argue here about what you may think the "real" ten commandments are, this has already been settled...
These ARE the ten commandments (the words of the covenant) that Moses wrote on the tablets and and you can check Exodus 34:28 for yourself and look for the words "עשרת הדברים Aseret ha-Dvarîm," if you wish:
|1. Thou shalt worship no other god...
|2. Thou shalt make thee no molten gods...
|3. The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep...
|4. All that openeth the matrix is mine...
|5. Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest...
|6. Thou shalt observe the feast of weeks...
|7. Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven...
|8. Neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left unto the morning.
|9. The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring...
|=>10. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk...|

a quick update, 3 hours after posting the question:
thank you natas6665, your comment was informative. but i am not so sure this is, indeed, what the evangelical community actually thinks. in fact, it seeems that there are more people like our dear "onfireforjesus" here, who simply assume this comes from a different bible that is not "the truth".
dear "onfire...", my bible is no different than yours. ironically, i may be more willing to read it than you are.
and thanks, tjreamer and meg michaels for the support. i may repost the question but only after this one expires. so, "spread the word," and let's hope we get more answers in the next few days.

Man, your screwed up. First of all the ten comandment are in Exodus 20 not Exodus 34:28. And the comandments are the following.
1 You shall have no other God's before me
2 You shall not make for yourself an idol
3 You shall not misuse the name of the LORD you God
4 Remember the Sabbath day be keeping it holy
5 Honor your father and mother
6 You shall not murder
7 You shall not commit adultery
8 You shall not steal
9 You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor
10 You shall not covet your neighbor or what he has

I hope this helped! You need to get another bible that is the Turth.

Wow! That is perhaps the best question I've ever read on R&S, and a real forehead-slapper. I confess it has been a long time since I have sat down and read the OT, instead of just searching for certain words or passages. I sincerely thank you for the wake-up call.

PLEASE post your question again when there is greater traffic -- I'd love to read more responses, especially if they are as hysterical as that of "OnFireForJesus!"

Usually they don't acknowledge THAT version of the 10 commandments. And incidentally, the ONLY one that is referred to by that name in the bible. Most of them have never heard of it and think I'm making it up.

Did you know there are actually 4 versions of the commandments? One of them has 100's of rules.

I guarantee you ONFIREFORJESUS below me didn't actually look it up in her own bible....she just assumed you made it up.
