According to my barber fiance, he says to do the following:

Wash hair (don't worry bout conditioner if you have good and healthy hair)

Get it cut every 6 to 8 weeks to get rid of split ends, broken hair, and to keep it looking good

NEVER comb / brush when wet as you pull your hair and can damage it

Dry naturally if possible

And shampoo DOES NOT have to come from a hair salon. My guy uses cheap $2.99 bottles of shampoo and his hair is fabulous but only because he looks after it and it's the healthiest head of hair I've ever seen. By the way, he cuts and looks after mine to, and in 35 years I've never had healthy hair before until I met my man and now it's great.

A healthy diet is the first place to start, but that will only affect new growth, giving you long term results.

There isn't really anything you can do to reverse damage but trimming damaged hair will help to eliminate split ends and help it look healthier and reduce breakage.

You can also protect it from becoming further damaged by chemicals, heat, and sun. Wear a hat when in the hot sun and blow dry only if necessary on the lowest heat possible. To prevent breakage, gently brush dry hair starting from the ends to work out the tangles. Never use a brush on wet hair, a wide tooth comb is best!

Conditioners and treatments that claim to reverse damage are a waste of money. At the very best they will coat the hair shaft and smooth the cuticle, helping to protect, but not repair.

Heathly eating is a must- five a day fruit and veg..
Cut out caffiene, acholol, and drink loads of water as your body is made out of 70% or more water so it needs to be kept moisturized its like having a plant when you havent watered it for awhile it becomes so dry and breaks easily just like hair.....
Your hair is not living its the roots that are alive so oil head massages nightly help your circulation to the roots so its simulated to grow..even hanging upside not for too long you dont want to black out...
Moisturize the hair daily invest in a good one doesnt have to be expensive learn about your hair type and texture and work with that you well get the best results..
Condition deep condition every other week depending on how dry your hair is - EGG AND MAYONISE- is a really good natural option as it is packed with protein which the hair is partly made out of.
Clean scalp make your scalp is not too clean as that can create other problems....

Leave the hair dont brush everyday if you do make sure you start at the bottom to the roots...
