Bourbon has to be made in the US and 95% of all Bourbons are made in Kentucky. What and where are the other 5% made?

Tennessee is home to Jack daniels and a few other knock-offs. I am not sure about the "other 5%"

In recent history Bourbon is being produced in several states. You can can view the long list at the above mentioned website.
Two that come to mind are Wyoming Bourbon and Mad Bull Bourbon.
At some point in the past all Bourbons were made in Kentucky, however that is not true anymore.

For the American Whiskey to be called Bourbon it:

i) has to be made of 51% corn;

ii) has to be aged for at least two years in brand new charred oak barrels in Bourbon county, Kentucky.

JD is a Tennessee Sour Mach Whiskey, not a Bourbon.

This is always worth a couple bucks in the tip jar. Hope this clears things up for you. Product knowledge is essential if your a guy and want to survive in the bartending world.

just like it can't be tequila unless it's from mexico or it can't be cognac unless it is from france it can't be bourban unless it is from Kentucky.
