100 years ago you would be lucky to catch one person who doesnt believe in religion but now with science and evidence it seems this isnt the case at all anymore

I think that the idea of organized religion definitely is. Although the majority acknowledge the existence of a higher being, I think more and more people are spiritual and not "religious". Its becoming obvious that no one particular set of beliefs is entirely accurate, and people focus more on their personal relationship with their higher being than on following certain sets of rules. Also, we're living in a society in which the differences between us all are tolerated to a higher degree than they were 100 years ago. People are more open to expressing their unconventional or lack of beliefs than they would have been in 1907.

I do not agree. Then why are there still extremists? I think, however, because the human communication network has become more global and thus now encompasses a greater diversity of people, much of religion (particularly Christianity) has become modernized with these new people in mind. However, as I implied previously, there are still very many religious zealots in the world today. The conflict between the non-religious and the super-religious especially resonates in the science field, quite contrary to what you imposed in your question. For example, some of the United States' most hotly debated issues concern abortion rights and stem cell research. The anti-teams for both issues are composed of very fundamentalist Christians.

So in conclusion, I do not believe that religion is slowly declining. I think that although much of religion has become modernized (esp. Christianity), it still exists none the less as exemplified by all the religious extremists we see on tv (ie. suicide bombers in Iraq and in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict). Also, I believe that we, as civilians of the United States, have become more aware of the cultural and religious differences around us and thus believe that our principle religion (Christianity) is on the decline.

In the US, UK, and Europe, it could possibly be considered that it is in fact, quickly declining. but while these societies are declining religiously, the church has been spreading out across the other 4 continents (Is ignoring Antarctica because there's only penguins there) and is making major growth.

And there have been plenty of atheists around since at least the 1700's.

I think as one voice declines another will pick up the speed.
With bad publicity and secrets coming forward of some religions others look elsewhere..

What might seem to be declining in one area will indeed move to another.

No, religion is not declining. It is increasing, but the people who professes religion are more and more doing it without its power to convert people and make them better ones. There are more people converted to religion but there are less religious people towards the end of time.

3:1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
3:2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3:3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without selfcontrol, brutal, despisers of good,
3:4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
3:5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

People are waking up. There continue to be more and more discoveries that prove that religious beliefs are wrong. Some people can ignore it but that doesn't change anything. Mankind's knowledge moves on but religion is stuck in the mud.

It may be, but the Christians seem to have twice as many children as us heathens. It's the easiest way to spread religion that I know of.
