Just curious as to what has helped you make your decision to either become a believer or shy away from believing in Christ. Any dramatic event happen? Was it the way you were raised?

Looking for mature responses, please. Sorry, but trolling will be reported. Thank you.

I was raised to believe in it, but I was cemented in it by the way He's brought me through so many things I could've died doing! I was a living example of "Amazing Grace" at one point in my life, and though there are others who sank lower than I, I'm still reminded everyday that I could be in my grave instead of being a dad to my girls!

The whole story of Christ is just a reconstruction of about 10 well known myths before it.

There is no basis or facts in christianity and thats why i would never believe in, or be a christian

5 out of 6 people in this world dont believe in jesus either. So, the majority of the worlds population - does not believe in jesus. To me, that is a good indication of its whole validity.

I hope that helps

I was raised Christian. My mom read me bible stories and prayed with me every night. Now I'm praying for maturity and wisdom, to know God better, because a lot has happened since I was six. Sometimes I wish I was one of those born-again people, who could look back on before they knew Christ and after he came into their lives.
About trolling, I think you need a little bit of human perspective on them.
Trolls are the kids who poke caged dogs with sticks to get them to growl. Dog doesn't growl, dog doesn't get poked for long. Sometimes, trolls target people who are so hyper, the slightest irreverence directed at their belief system will send them into a spitting rage, which isn't effective at all, and is very amusing to watch/read. These people are called lol-cows, because they can be milked for laughs for as long as the troll keeps agitating them.
Don't be a lol-cow. Be in on the joke, not the butt of it.

Yes, I am a believer in Christ. I was brought up in a church in Georgia and TAKEN to church by my parents. I accepted Christ as my savior when i was 12 years old. He has sustained me for almost half a century on this earth, and when this life is over, I shall dwell with Him throughout all eternity. I would that all do the same.

Well, this is not an easy question. I believe that Jesus was a man. He lived and he died for his beliefs. He is someone that we should all strive to be like, but he was just a man.

I do not believe he was more than a man because he never claimed to be. He was not elevated to this level until some 300 years after his death when the council in Nicea decided that that was the truth. It seems rather arbitrary to me.

No, I do not really believe in Christ. I believe he could very well have lived on this earth, but I believe that much fiction was written about his life. I used to be Christian though.
I cannot believe that there is only one true religion. And I don't feel any comfort from Christianity. I could go on. there are many reasons. I don't believe in a sadistic God who would punish humans and sacrifice his own son in the most brutal way imaginable.

To me the central myth of Christianity is that original sin led to the spiritual death of mankind and that Christ's redemption and resurrection was the only possible way out.

In the beginning, God tells humanity to not pursue knowledge. Humanity does so. That's our original sin. It doesn't matter to me that it was a commandment of God and that violation of God's commandments leads to falling out of beatific innocence and into a disharmonious state of being. The sin is constituted of the human being in search of self-development, of growth, to further the range of our possibilities.

I'm not going to repent of that.

So no, I'm not a Christian. There's no one event that led to that, but rather my own Bible study and personal reflection.

All the best,

Laz

I read the Bible, and realizeed it was very untrue. I also realized my teachers had never fully read the bible, and got disturbed.

I then drifted around, until I got into Paganism.

Discounting the fact the bible is symbolical [It is, i never took it literally], I have problem with the issues it has with my personality. I am a knowledge seeker. It is not enough for me to know my God[s], I want to know why they do things. I enjoy seeking knowledge, but according to the Bible, I am evil for that.

Believer in Christ, how? I believe he existed. I believe his purpose on Earth was to deliver a message from God ... but that his message was misunderstood, even by his disciples. I was "raised" to believe a certain thing about Jesus, but investigation led me in a different direction, as to his purpose, his life and his teachings

I'm not sure how that fits into your definition of a "believer in Christ", but there you have it.
