i have had my belly pierced since May 2006 so about 7 months ago. and the skin in between is still a redish colour and it is getting smaller. some days it will be fine and others it is tender. i clean it every day and i bathe aswell so its not like its ditry. it looks like that its coming forward and its going to come out.

should i take it out and let it heal (will it heal?). is there any way to make it heal or not grow out?

the professional piecer said if it was going to grow out it will do it in about 6 months after the piecing was done and its been longer then that

Your piercing is rejecting. Sadly, this happens to some people and the cause can be everything from poor cleaning, too much cleaning, poor placement of piercing, the person's skin and body. Your body didn't want something foreign in it and it took care of its problem.

Often, once a piercing starts rejecting there is a small chance of saving it, so I suggest to you that you take it out and give your body 8-12 weeks to let the area fully heal if you want to try and re-pierce it again (if re-pierced again, rejection can happen, but is less likely to occur. Though, with the scar tissue, it may be more painful and take longer to heal overall). If taken out now, it will heal with minimal scarring and won't leave a very visible mark behind. Be sure to keep the area clean as it heals to avoid any further complications.

Your piercer is right and wrong. Often with navel piercings (and eyebrow piercings), rejection is noted in the first 6 months. Everyone is different and in some cases, the rejection can start after that period or as a result of trauma to the area.

your naval piercing is rejecting..TAKE IT OUT before its too late..if you let it in there one day if it gets caught on something it will be very easy to rip out and you'll have two flaps of skin where the bar used to be..if that makes sense...you can take it out now and let it heal and in at least a month from now go back to your piercer and get it re done..this time he or she will pierce it behind the scar tissue and it will not reject again (not for a very long time anyways)..i had to do this with my eyebrow...it's nothing you did while taking care of it that made this happen..piercings are not normal..you know? we weren't born with them..so your body sees it as it's never been there so it's not supposed to be there and it pushes it out..thats as best as i can describe it..good luck with that!

What kind of metal is the bar made of???
Mine did something similar and it turned out I was allergic to the bar and had to go with 14k gold - - then I was fine!
And it is possible for a person to be allergic to the surgical steel that is often used, believe me - - I couldn't believe it when my piercer told me thats what the problem appeared to be.
After I switched to gold, it went away and the piercing was fine.

the skin between is getting smaller and both exit holes are red? sounds liek tis rejecting to me... better take it out but go to a professional pierce shop to have it looked at and determine if that is the3 case or not. but it does sound sliek its rejecting. it can reject anytime.. your piercign isnt fully healed ey (as you know they can take up to a year) go get it looked at and if its rejectign you will need to take it out so you dont end up with gorss distorted navel.

Mine did the same thing and from what I was told, it wasn't pierced deep enough. Did they use a curved needle when they pierced it? My ex-used to "do" piercing professionally.
