I'm not against religion, and I know that this question is probably getting old, but I want to know something.

Why, when the world is the way it is today (war, famine, terrorist attacks, murder, rape, child abuse, sexual abuse, demoestic violence, eating disorders, the list goes on.......) do we continue to pray for answers to the worlds problems? If praying worked wouldn't we have the answers by now?

If we all stopped focusing on what might be real, and started focusing on what IS real, we may actually have a chance at fixing a few of these horrific problems.

I agree. People keep praying to God asking him for crap like he is a freggin' genie. There are some things in the world that you cannot change. You can try to prevent them....but completely irradicating them would be impossible....especially since nobody in this world knows how to work together. We are all competing against eachother and fighting with eachother.
And the things that are easy to get, people are too lazy to do on their own. They prefer to ask God to give it to them. Isn't that considered Sloth?

Are you seriously saying the reason we haven't solved any of the problems you listed is because people spend too much time praying? I could say that they probably continue to happen because people don't spend ENOUGH time praying.

I can tell you of many specific answers to prayers. If it didn't ever work, do you think anyone would continue praying? Answers do happen.

The things you listed are definitely things that we should pray about, but they are also things that we can work together to stop. You said that yourself. God will do many things for us if we ask Him, but the most important question to ask God is what He wants from us. He can lead us all to help make the world a better place, if that is what we really want from Him. That is the most important thing to pray about.

The key is understanding that we as humans cannot "fix" the problems that have already manifested. The system was implemented long ago and it is working perfectly. Karma must be reconciled. We, with our choices and actions, have set into motion cause and effect. We must live out the effects of our actions. Praying will give us guidance for what decisions we must make in the moment, but will not "fix" (intervene on behalf of) problems which have already been cast into motion.

The problems confronting humans today are of such magnitude that it will require nothing short of Devine intervention to renovate our planet to save it. Global warming - polar ice caps breaking off of both, North and South poles, disease pandemics on the horizon, nuclear arms build up in countries such as Iran and North Korea, mass changes in the weather and the balance of economic power shifting from the west to China and Europe. It all boils down to either, God exists or man-kind won't !

because,my dear friend, sometimes focusing on the real stuff doesn't help as it is almost impossible to work the problems (e.g;war, racism) out despite the number of organizations and associations that currently exist to eradicate these troubles.

at times hope and faith is found in the unknown through the power of prayer,we help gentle out hearts and learn to accept that the world can sometimes be violent, unaccepting and cruel-and by accepting we come to terms with the irrepairable but we don't stop trying,we try our best but don't lose hope when we come to a point where our efforts are mazimized and there's nothing else we can do.

these problems are much bigger than us and may take decades to solve-so in the meantime,we try to find peace in ourselves and continue hoping that things will get better and do anything we can to contribute.

Just because you pray for something does not mean that God's answer is YES. Sometimes he says no.

Maybe you should read a Bible and you might know why some of these things exist or why evil in general exists. Or read anything else concerning prayer. You might learn something.

God has given us the answer again and again, stay away from sin and follow him, yet we choose to do as we please and deny him allowing sin and evil to run free. God gives us freewill and although some of us refuse evil enough except it to allow it to continue. As such the world is this way because a majority of us wish it so.

Sad but true...

Just because you pray for a particular answer, does not mean that it is the one God gives to you. If you pray to end hunger, but it is in God's plan to use that hunger for a greater good, He is not going to just end hunger because you asked for it. You can pray until you are blue in the face, but He will answer in His own time.

God always answers prayer, sometimes we just don't get the answer we want.

the key of life is to be the best you can be

but one can't be responsible for what others do

we pray so that others will see the light, and start doing the correct thing(which is not necessarily mean that they convert to one's religion)
