i know that picking a scab makes it more likely to have a scar, but if there's not a scab, but just new skin that hasn't all the way healed yet, will cutting the same spot again leave a scar? what about putting a bandaid so the sticky part is on an old cut that hasn't totally healed yet?

Yes, a new cut on top of an old one is more likely to cause a scar.

As for the sticky part of a bandaid being on top of an unhealed cut- well I'm not so sure. It will make it so the injury can't 'breathe', as such. And so take longer healing.

Have accidentally cut a place open again on my hand, the scar is barley visible. You can buy the butterfly bandaids that work to keep the cut closed. They work great.
