It was broad daylight and I was bike riding with some friends and we pulled under a shady tree and rested a bit. We've been riding for 4 hours straight. As we began to catch our breaths, I looked over to the Left and noticed a Highway Patrol vehicle parked behind a big wall. On the other side of the wall near the road was this homeless man pushing a cart. There were 2 officers and they began questioning the man. One officer whipped out his baton and cracked the man across the back of his head and the other officer started kicking and punching this helpless man. There were no witnesses except my partner and I. After beating up this man, one of the officers looked toward our way and noticed us under this tree brushel. Before, we could say anything, we took off, but had to split up. The officers jumped into their car and tried apprehending us, but since we're on mountain bikes, we were able to jump off the road and down the hill. I haven't heard from my friend and I don't know what to do?

your reaction is normal and expected-many of us would have done, ran.the authorities,as depicted in movies at times, can be cruel, unfair and at times manipulate their power so first thing's first, don't be worried of the way you acted as it is totally justified and you shouldn't feel bad at all.next step, you should probably tell someone, probably discreetly of what you saw and continue accordingly-it's good that you noticed this and decided to tell someone online,as i'm sure plenty of others would have simply ignored it and done absolutely nothing.

they can supply anybody breaking the regulation a cost ticket or arrest them. they are stated as that because of the fact they are employed with the aid of the state and acquire funds from the government to patrol the highways of that state. that would not propose the can not leave that highway and patrol county or city roads as nicely. that would desire to be comparable to asserting that a county sheriff's deputy can not do something yet patrol county roads and county roads basically. so which you will possibly answer you question sure they can supply a citation or maybe arrest a bicyclists no remember the place they trip.

I'm willing to bet the poor defenseless homeless man either assaulted one of the officers or resisted arrest. Next time maybe he will do what he's told. Go to the police station and tell them what happened so they can arrest you too.

Hire a civil rights atty , file a deposition with the state attorneys office about the incident. if you dare. being a witness is not a crime . Hoever if the man dies from the beating you can be held as a material witness. GET A LAWYER PRO BONO

You need to report this. If you are afraid to call the police and ask for a shift supervisor then call the District Attornys office. I wish you would have had a camera phone as the police will deny it ever happened.

the first thing you have to do is locate your star witness,- the homeless man that was beaten up, if he is to scared to testify, your case is gone and your name is on the list, better carry a camera phone from now on.

I myself would report this to a superior at the highway patrol department and contact the local newspaper and television station to also report it.
