Why are there so many crazy christian's in the U.S.?

Im not saying that christianity is bad or anything and alot of christians i know are good people, but why are some many midwesterners nuts?

First, you need to get your regions straight. Do names like "Southern Baptist" and Missouri Synod" give you a clue?

The reason there are so many is that we are a large country that, until fairly recently, had large areas (mostly in the south) with little access to information (other than superstitions passed down from generation to generation and miserable educational systems) and even less interaction with "city folk."

Suddenly, these people have become "mainstreamed" through technical advancements (cable and satellite tv, Internet, etc.) that allows them an equal voice to those who live in more enlightened areas of the country, while still preserving their social isolation and substandard educational systems.

These people, considered only as a source of comedy material 30 years ago, have been embraced by the neo-con movement as naive, easily manipulated foot soldiers who will follow anyone that gives them the illusion of credibility and panders to their Ma & Pa Kettle philosophies. That pandering results in a higher level of visibility for them and allows them to promote their snake-handling cults to other low-brow elements throughout the country. As there is an enormous pool of losers, the intellectually lazy and emotional criples, their influence continues to spread like a smut through a plum orchard.

we are a free country is the problem. A christians worst enemy is a crazed christian believe me i have the experience to tell you. what pisses me off the most is that minorities ( not racial wise) are more backed politically nowdays then ever. here is an example , there was this ***** that was the head of a baptist church that led riots to protest at a dead war veterans funeral in iraq. The protesters were able to get away with throwing **** at family members during the funeral service and interupting it with noise and chants to silence the priest speaking for this veterans funeral. Lets flip the situation around and think about protesting at there funerals and assault them, we would be arrested. If it was my family member who died in a war and miss "**** all soliders" interupeted his funeral, I would just just start shooting live ammunition into the crowd without thought, and this is coming from a christian.

I thought this was pretty simply understood:
because there's too many crazy wannabe christians, crazy anti-christians, and crazy people who haven't read so much as 5 sentences out of a bible and find themselves to think they are scholars on theology.

It's just the system trying to balance out.

There aren't all of that many. It's just that they have made themselves into a powerful voting constituency and hence have garnered a lot of press and feel that they have a lot more freedom to come out of the woodwork and be vocal.

There are nutters everywhere, and this too shall pass as the fundamentalists are already starting to lose their voting power.

We are crazy because we want to feed the hungry no matter where they live in the world .We are crazy because because we believe everyone has the right to life . We are crazy because we want every one to know Jesus Christ and have that chance to meet God in heaven .We do no harm yet some are afraid of us .
We must fight to keep our right to pray ,to have public displays of Jesus and many other things that we always took for granted .
