And here we have the biggest difference between Christianity and Islam. Christianity is a religion of Love and forgiveness. Islam is based on the law of Hammurabi, that is where the harshness comes from. It is the harshest, most unforgiving of religions.

The stoning and or other Islamic punishments only occur if and when there is solid proof. The pointing of fingers and the wagging of tongues does not work. The stoning and the beheading would indeed be barbaric if it were allowed because some one made a false accusation, besides; there's usually a trial before hand - yes - in a court system and the shebang.
As a Muslim I believe that Jesus dealt with the woman in the correct manner. He was showing a good example of tolerance and forgiveness and human fortitude.
You don't see me write as a Muslim that Jesus was practicing Old Testament Law; I would be lying.

The Koran is a great book for even the Christian to read. I'm a Christian, and I enjoy it. The Old Testament has the same view as the Koran in regards to this subject. Unlike Mohamid, Jesus was Gods new creation born without sin, thus is the lamb of God who took the blame for our sins, which is a gift of God. Those who accept this gift, will be resurrected in the new life that lasts forever. Before Jesus, the only solution was death of the sinner (for sins considered great) or a replacement such as a Dove, Calf, or lamb took the blame. Always remember, God (supreme spirit) is much more forgiving than man, possessed Jesus (you don't think that only demons can possess humans, do you?), and guided him all the way until Jesus was crucified, then God forsaked Jesus temporarily. Now Jesus is Gods right hand man.

Stoning is a legal sentence for certain activities deemed criminal in some (but not all) of the Islamic countries governed by Sharia law [1], including the following:
* Islamic Republic of Iran[2][3]
* Nigeria[4][5]
* Saudi Arabia[citation needed],
* Sudan[6]
* Islamic Republic of Afghanistan[7]
* and the United Arab Emirates [8].
Iran
Capital punishment in Iran is legal, and can be executed in a number of ways including Stoning.
In April 2002[9], the Iranian newspaper Entekhab reported that a woman called Ferdows B had been sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment, to be followed by death by stoning. Another woman who received a similar sentence was stoned to death in May 2001, after eight years in Tehran's Evin Prison. She had been convicted of adultery and corruption on earth.

As you can tell from some of the answers you have already gotten, they believe they are doing it out of love. However, the Bible clearly states that those who live by the Law (and judge others by it as well) will be prosecuted under the Law on the last day. Can anyone, save Christ himself, say they have obeyed the Law completely?? God says if you are guilty of breaking ONE law (by thought, word, or deed), you are guilty of breaking them ALL. Christ tells us not to worry about the speck in someone else's eye when you have a plank in your own. The GOOD NEWS is through faith in Christ we are ALL saved... however, how many people have you caused to turn their backs on God because of your fear over their perceived sins?? How many gays do you continue to badger until they want nothing more to do with the church? On the last day, when Christ asks you why you pushed so many from Him, how will you answer?? John 3:16-18 is very clear that ALL who believe in Christ will be saved, that ALL who believe in Christ are not condemned, and that Christ does not condemn. God does not put limits on who can believe, and neither should you.

For me this is why what I call the "Jesus factor" is so important; many non-christian religions and some christian doctrines eliminate the wonderful mesages of Jesus and inflict many mental and physical brutalities upon people. Sometimes I believe that in every religion and culture -- the naturally occuring tendency to seek superiority takes over and establishes itself as religion or cultural doctrine. So, to look down upon or condemn another in some way uplifts another; a manmade concept. Since God is no respecter of persons.
My personal opinion is that God is sovereign and is not without mercy so -- Jesus symbolically and literally tells us as humans that to take on the position and stature of God and judge others to the extreme of breaking a commnadment " thou shat not kill" is not His plan or something that men have the right to do.
Although our faults (sinful nature) are known to God, I believe he is still more interested in having us accept and draw closer to him, than condemning us, if we want it.
Like they say it's not over until God says it's over.

well muslims believe jesus was a prophet but NOT the son of God
so for them your question is pointless...
and yes he did stop killing as a form of punishment in the new testament. however he did NOT stop judging right from wrong.
which is often the result of misuse of that verse.

The koran says the sun sets in a muddy spring and that allah forgave muhammad who spoke up for Satan and allowed muhammad to have sex with a biologically underaged girls and kill innocent non-believers.
Do you think allah cares about who is dying???
God is God, Allah is a piece of stone at the Ka'aba. God can split the red sea, but throw allah the stone down into the ocean, and it sinks.
