I feel so wound up and frantic all the time and it makes me very irritable, I want to find inner peace and become a better person, but I am unsure how. Im not religious at all, is it possible to find inner peace without religion? Or am I just lost? Please help.

Hey man. I've struggled with inner peace too. The way I found true comfort: Jesus Christ. Now, I'm not going to spat a bunch of bible verses out here, I'm just answering your question. I don't want to bog you down in stuff you may or may not have heard. But instead, try to think of it this way: God(Jesus) is outside of you, beyond you. Therefore, when you think about Him, and what he should be doing in your life, then you're obviously not being worried about everything that makes your life so frantic. Where you go from the thinking process is up to you. If you feel led, invite Jesus to be your savior. And when I say savior I don't mean only from eternal damnation. It seems that some people think that's all he's about. I think you'd realize that you'll be at peace, now suddenly, because the world is no longer about you. Trust me, when you figure that you actually have a place in eternity, the present world being a part of it, all those tedious everyday issues that wind us up seem to dissolve into irrelavance. Anyways, accepting Christ also means another thing, and I think it relates well to something someone else already said. Someone said that you will find peace within yourself. Isn't it a bummer that all of our frantic, fast-paced, wound up and confused lives also result from our inner-self? Greed, love, hate, doubt, whatever. Any of those emotions can result in chaos. Imagine looking within yourself, however, and knowing that Jesus is at the center of it all? Now that brings me peace. Instead of seeing my humanly wavering emotions, I see a solid foundation on which my life must take shape. In other words, Christ provides a standard, if you will, that I can always live up to. He does not waver, His word does not change, and his love does not falter.
So that is the solution to inner peace my friend, as well as I can explain it. I hope you find what your looking for.

You dont need to become religious bible thumper type but you do need to meet Jesus Christ as your Savior. Absolutley 100% you will receive inner peace. He is very real... died on the cross for all sin and God left a hole in our heart til we choose to find out if Christ the Son is really who He claims to be.
Read in the quiet of your home the Gospel of John Luke, Mark and Matthew and pray for understanding. "Seek with all of your heart and you will find." - (a promise of God) You have nothing to lose by seeking... and if He is really the only way... you have everything to gain. One of the things Christ stated is, " I will leave you peace." and yes, I will testify to that fact... He does. I only wish I had not waited so long. PS when you read, realize the words in red are speaking directly to you... not as a piece of history. this is one of the miracles/beauty of the bible. History is intertwined with truth and reality.

Why we don't have peace? because of Fear. Fear is the evil emotions that slaving us. Ever since we came into existance we know we will disapper. For every human being born it will die. The primary purpose of human activity is how to preserve his life and his loveone. We know we can never defeat the unpredictable and uncontrollable world. Controlling the world put stress in our daily life. We have to go to school study, work hard, get high salary, be succesfull. A lot of pressure and expectation. Until we find our tired and sick of our stressful and demanding world. Find our lives meaningless and purposeless.
I found peace when I gave myself to God, all my fears, worries and cares, and most of all my Ego, I gave it to Him.
Believing in God and Lord Jesus, gave me hope, enlighten the load,. give comfort and inner peace.
You don't have to be religious just be spiritual, try God now!

Inner peace is either exceedingly difficult to attain, or laughably easy. It depends on your approach, really. If you struggle to attain it, you never will, because you can't be at peace if you're involved in a struggle. The best advice I can offer is to encourage you to realize nobody makes you angry or upset but yourself. Let's say you're standing in line at the bank for ten minutes and someone just butts in line in front of you. It's YOUR choice whether to become angry, or to remain calm. And yes, it really can be that simple, but it does take practice. Try telling yourself "Look, in six hours this won't even matter, and in six months I won't even remember. It's just not worth getting worked up over."

Works for me all the time. ;) I haven't been angry in months.

It is indeed possible to find inner peace without suffering from schizoid delusional mental disorders.
Do you realy think that believing that ancient middle eastern tales and legends, that invisible things are watching you and judging you all the time etc... will bring you inner peace ? I don't.
