By simply signing up for an account, Paypal does not use that information to find your credit card information. When you signed up for the account, did you link your bank account to it? You would have entered in your information, again Paypal cannot find that information for you. Did you actually pay for the item or simply purchased it on eBay? You can purchase an item on eBay, but you have to go through a separate process to actually pay for the item through Paypal. Log into your Paypal account and look at the recent transactions. If there is nothing listed, you have not yet paid for the item. If it is listed, click on the listing for details such as what method of payment was used, either credit card, debit card, checking account, or Paypal balance. If you still can't figure it out after that, you will have to contact Paypal. They will be able to talk you through the problem while looking at your account.

If you provided Paypal with a bank account when you joined, you may have paid directly from that account.

don't worry that is not possible. Paypal is a legitimate site, they wouldn't do that. I have done hundreds of transactions through them and they don't screw you over. good luck!
