For all of those in the Army, do you support the change to the traditional Army Blues, or do you prefer our current Greens? I understand that the Blues have a long history of tradition behind them, dating back hundreds of years, however, somehow I just prefer my Greens. What do you think?

I got out in 98 but I would support this change. Those "**** caps" are make you look like a gas attendant or like your're selling ice cream. Look at it this way, if you get to wear the cool looking "officer" hat, people might mistake you for an officer. What I don't approve of now is that regular Army can wear the berets that used to be reserved for Rangers and Special Forces. That's bullshit.

For the most part the changes seem to be a good one. It would be nice to have only one dress uniform instead of half a dozen.

The one bad thing, which has angered the Airborne community, is that we will no longer be allowed to wear our jump boots and blouse the pants. I agree with the above answer that the Army needs to keep some traditions alive. First the beret fiasco, and now they are taking away our jump boots.

I would rather keep my Class A's if it means I can keep my jump boots!

I preferred the old system. There was a hierarchy regarding what uniform to wear for certain occasions. White (mess dress) for very formal wear, dress blues for funerals or less formal wear, class A (greens) for daily wear. In the 60s & 70s khakis were worn as summer wear. With the change, the only dress green uniform will be worn by the Marines (Service Uniform).

I guess I'm mixed on it. Personally, I prefer the blues. I like the way the look as well as the way they fit. There are somethings I prefer about the greens, though.

I like the fact that my unit is represented on the patch on my left sleeve and the unit(s) I served under in combat is represented on my right. That's something that would probably go away and is a part of our history.

However, the blues look good when I get to wear my Stetson and spurs...

;-)

I personally don't think that a class A dress uniform should ever change. It should stay the same to remind us of our past. The Marine Corps class As don't change, because they're much better at keeping with tradition, and I think that's what the army needs.

If you in the Army , there is a Blue uniform that can be worn for special occasions now, and it is authorized, if you want to spend the money for it. for myself, I think blue would be cool for everyday dress. Good idea.
