I think a balanced meal with protein and complex cabohydrates, paired with some water would be good. It would give you the energy you need to maximize your mental potential, and would ward off any hunger for a significant amount of time. I'd eat something that you'd know wouldn't irritate your stomach - this is definitely not a good time to try something new and exotic (you don't want to get sick to your stomach!). I would also definitely avoid caffeine. Caffeine is a natural diuretic, meaning it will elevate the rate of bodily urine excretion, and could lead to dehydration. Aside from eating a proper meal, if possible, take a brisk 20 minute walk prior to your test. I was just reading in "Self" magaine that a study from Miami University found that people completed mental tasks more efficiently after a 20-minute stint on the treadmill than after resting. The researchers found that exercise expands the brain's processing ability, keeping you sharper. Hope this helps!

Eat something bland with protein a few hours before. I reccomend eggs or something- They won't make you sick or make your stomach grumble.

Also, drink an energy drink directly before the exam. I swear- caffeine can work like ADD medicine and help you concentrate. I always chug a redbull or rockstar as I walk into the exam- I cannot overemphasize you how much it has helped.

Extra Tip: Chew gum while you're studying and while you're taking the test. Studies have shown that you are more likely to remember if you repeat the same action (such as chewing gum) when you're taking the test. It also helps me concentrate.

Fish, tuna in a can, is great. Add some olive oil, also rich in those brain-friendly proteins. This is quick burning energy, the stuff you need for lightning-fast responses.

Whole wheat anything; a slice of bread, a whole wheat muffin, you decide. Whole wheat is great fuel to keep sustain you, because it takes your body longer to break it down.

So with the protein & carb combo, each fueling your body in different ways you are good to go.

Have a caffeinated coke -- anything more like Redbull will make you too nervous, remember you want an edge, not to fall off it.

Hope this helps, good luck, get plenty of sleep, and get that A you've been waiting for.

Avoid all sweets and coffee! It slows down the traveling of impulses from one nerve to another - thus thinking straight will be harder. Eat protein - especially fish - protein is brain food and fish contains certain oils which heightens brain effectiveness. You can also enjoy fresh fruit which will make your body feel refreshed. Don't take in too much fluid - the obvious reason of course that you don't want to spend more time visiting the bathroom than writhing the exam. But do allow yourself to drink water - just not too much!

Drink a BOO KOO.
it's an energy drink that tastes great and has a kick like a mule!
They come in several flavors but wild berry is my choice. You can only get these at 7 eleven. I dare you to drink the whole can!
Good Luck on your exams, I know you'll do well.

I was told at a very young age to eat peanut butter or anything that has peanuts in it. And since then, I have tried to eat peanut butter before every exam. I have performed well...or maybe that's just because I'm super brilliant lol. I also tend to eat chocolate. But that may be due more to the fact that I want an excuse to eat chocolate than anything else.

Considering my experience, I think you should not drink too much water first before a few hours your exam.If you will take your test in the morning,I suggest that you should have an egg and some pancakes for your breakfast.Moveover, chocolate which can stimulate the activity of your brain is better.
A little suggestion,good luck.

Eat a banana as it gives you energy to go on throughout the exam. Drink sips of water....do not guzzle as you will need the toilet which is not good!

Avoid sugary food. It gives you instant energy but makes you sleepy after a while. Eat protein food and complex starches like whole wheat bread or cereal. Any thing you eat should be in small quantities.

I always have some form of caffeine drink, like 'Kick' (Tesco). It gives me that extra bit of energy which I find comes in useful for when having to write for 2 hours. As for food, something light, as I don't want to get indigestion!
