I'm an 18 year old, 5' 11'' male in college. I weight in around 178 lbs and am looking to lose wieght. Not that I think I'm fat, its just that I would like to have a more toned body. Any ideas as to how I can accomplish this? I run every other day for about an hour or so, lift about 3 times a week, and do crunches etc almost everyday. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So you don't necessarily want to lose weight but you want to be more fit.. right? Well, if what you say is true about your work out habits you should look pretty fit already. If you don't feel your physique is in alignment with your workout habits than you may need to look at your diet.

If you aren't eating a balanced diet and enough food which is equally important. You need to first put some effort into what you eat, does it give your body the right fuel it needs? Also, are you getting enough fuel? The less you eat, the less your body thinks you will refuel it, so it slows down your metabolism... that's nature. Three to five (portion controlled)meals will keep your metabolism burning all day and night.

Also, use variety in your workouts. Your body can plateau, by having variety in your workouts you will find yourself always building and effectively training all the nooks and crannies of the body.

Good luck

I learned this from someone I knew... Try to eat 5 small meals a day, every 3 hours, drink at 20 oz of water every hour. Your 5 small meals should consist of protein and a green vegetable. It may look like a small amount but it's not and if you drink your water in between meals you won't be hungry. Also limit your salt intake, it's better if it's no salt at all (ms dash). Try it for 2 or 3 days and you will lose 3-5 pounds.

minimize sweets, breads and fats. Eat AOX, teas and fiber. Eat fruits, vegtables and you should lose 5-10 pounds or so. You really don't need to lose much more.
