go to the manufacturers site for your pc and download the sound drivers from there, make sure they will run on xp

You need the proper drivers of your soundcard for XP. Only then will it work.

You can find those by going to your soundcard (or your motherboard manufacturer's if your soundcard is integrated) site to find those. For that you need to know your soundcard or motherboard model.
