I agree as a Atheist i would rather live in Christian country then Islam. However lets not forget Christianity had horrible rulers in the past also. What is important that it over came them. I feel Islam is less able to do so. Since there basic dogma is more strict.

Most of the atheist do feel very threatened by all of the religious fundamentalists. If the radical Christians get their way they will be just as bad as the Talibani. The strict orthodox jewish are no treat either.
In fact the Abrahamaic religions all have the same intolerance and violence built into them. The Bible demands that if there is even one unbeliever in a city everybody should be slaughtered and the city destroyed including all the wealth and livestock.
Religion is Evil.

Intolerance is no more a central tenet of Islam than it is of Christianity. In the past, some Islamic civilizations were much more tolerant than the Christians. The Spanish Inquisition, for example, was instituted in part to deal with all the Jews and heretics who had been living in Spain unmolested under Islamic rule.
In the US at present, Christianists are a much greater threat to peace and tolerance than Islamists.

Its the freaking imams, mullahs, ayatollas, politicians and clerics that are using islam to their own personal gain and advantage. Islam is probably the only religion now/today/current time that suffers from this problem. The other religions had theirs too, but they managed to reform and its not a problem for them today.

churches are allowed in Muslim countries. I've been to Iran and there are lots of churches there.
it's the people who are intolerance and not the religion. Islams prophet(pbuh) always said that guide infidels, do not hurt them. but after he died, many people changed his words and said infidels should die and you can't convert to another religion and stuff like that.
