Let's sum it up easy
Southhampton is located in the southern part of Suffolk County, about 75 miles east of New York City heading to the South Fork.
It is mainly occupied by successful business people and celebrities. During the summers, you have the young crowd that rent places out there...but the young folks are also well to do or most likely have rich parents.
It's "the Hamptons".

If you'd like a meaningful answer about geography or demographics you've got to be a little more precise about spelling and the geographical extent of your question.
It's generally held that the oldest of the many Southamptons is the city of that name (an spelled thus) which is a seaport in England and has a demographically mixed population.

Boy, are these people long-winded, don't you think?! It's on the East End of Long Island, on the South Fork, with a very pretty beach and blue, blue water. It does, in fact, attract a lot of very rich people, and I am not sure anyone else can afford to live out there.
