What could this be? Male english budgie that has recently developed a pinkish "growth" in the middle of his cere?

its lifted off his cere right in the center above his beak and looks more like a scab- read up on scaly face mights but the pics i saw look nothing like what he has

get to an avian vet. Remember....a bird will not show that it is sick untill it is pretty much too late. Instinct tells them to hide their weekness so they do not become food...even pet birds.

Just by the sound of it it's quite common. It is contagious however if not treated. You'll need to get a special spray from the vet / pet shop (sorry, the name of the problem has totally vanished from my brain right now) but it is curable. You'll need to get onto it straight away and treat any other birds too. You'll need to give the cage, toys, feeders, perches etc. a really good clean too!

Could be a growth or cyst. Take him to a vet. Could be dangerous, like a small tumor or something. Better to be safe than sorry.
