First of all, are you alright. Pretty exciting evening and must worry about the important things first. Call your insurance company and see a doctor. Your insurance company will help you not only with medical bills but also car repairs. I would also seek the advice of an attorney. They will help in the persecution of the driver. With that said the other driver will also get an attorney who's main concern is getting him out of the trouble he is in. If this is his first offense and depending on the state he will probably get a night in jail, court cost, loose his license for at least 30 days and have to pay his lawyer for all this. So make sure you are alright physically then maybe financially will come later. However, the financial part probably wont be tremendous and neither will his punishment unfortunately.

not up to me, i just uphold the law, but I'm sure he is probably a minor from the sound of it ,so he might get off with a slap on the wrist. if he is a man he will get charged with a felony hit and run big penalty for no insurance and will not be able to get a license for at least 5 years

First time offense is usually just a fine & court costs. But it does vary from state to state.
