I'm staying with mother-in-law ,and husband just want me to stay at home and look after my son. There's no freedom at home since we are staying with mom-in-law because she is very pocessive. I'm a volunteer parents in my son's school but only for 2 hrs each day, and I took meditation class once a week. What am I going to do or to be when my son is indepentant and I don't have to look after him anymore ?

You have got a life as well and they should understand your needs. All I can say is they are ignorant to your feelings and your will to achieve.

I doesn't matter if you need to. if you WANT to then you should be able to. Setting at home all day is no fun! Perhaps if your husband is really against you working and you don't feel that he would react well to you getting a job, you could take advantage of your good fortune and do some volunteer work! You meet a lot of great people, it gets you out of the house and you get that warm fuzzy feeling that doing something for others brings.

I believe you need a job we all need a feeling of self worth if your fortunate enough not to have to work I would go back to school volunter somewhere they could use your services sitting at home all the time is not agood thing for anyone for many reasons all aspects of health for one I would want a better answer why he doesn't want you to leave the house

If I were you, I would do volunteer work or take some college classes. You need to do something or your brain will turn to mush. If these are not options, then take up a hobby like painting or doing woodworking or crafts. Just keep those brain cells going.

OK..."don't need to"....but, what do YOU want? You may not NEED to, but, do you "want to"? Don't you feel you need to make a contribution to society? Do you have kids? Stay-at-home-moms make a huge contribution. But, if you are at home sitting on your *ss, you may want to do something? There are so many opportunities for people that "get" to stay home and have nothing to do. Volunteer at: the nursing homes, meals-on-wheels, the fire dept., schools, libraries, church, hospitals. There really is so much you can do! Having you say you are "BORED" is just an excuse.....sorry, but, true.....good luck to you!

heheeh-- you are sooooooooooo BORED, not so Boring.... I'm guessing you might be from South Asia? Not only can this be boring, but it can also be very isolating and can create an excessive dependence on your husband. If you can't work, can you volunteer? Can you go to school? Can you write a book? Can you do some sort of home-based business?
all the best!

You sound like me. Unfulfilled. I'm 50 and still trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up. Don't you just feel like you should appreciate it? But then.....I feel like life is passing me by! Sure, we don't need the money, but there are other needs we're forgetting about, aren't there?

Haha I don't have to work either. I am in nursing school and my parents figure I should spend all of my time enveloped with my studies than a job. It's nice to have that, but it also sucks not to have my own money. It's a double bladed sword.
