It depends on how you define the word Love. Buddhists are not compelled to love or respect lord Buddha in the teachings as it is a very free religion ( more likely a Philosophy ). In the teachings of Buddha, it is clearly stated that, never to follow his own teachings just because your family is following them, or your society follows them etc, but only if you feel this is the right thing, then only follow it. Same as respect and love. Buddhists don't love lord Buddha, they respect lord Buddha for showing the path to nirvana.

No. It's more like a role model than idol.
Hence the old Buddhist saying "if you ever meet the Buddha, you must kill him".
It didnt mean to murder anyone, but not to become infatuated with anyone, even the buddha.
Buddha asked that he never be worshiped or loved more than anything else, just to be listened to (if someone wanted to) and possibly a teacher.

Buddhists love and admire Buddha and strive to be like him. The main difference is that they do not claim that Buddha is a God.

Buddha and Jesus love all. Holding no restriction of people age, colour or race. Only common man chose to love buddha or christ rather that to love all.We are still far from understanding the power of love from buddha or christ.

buddhism is not atheistic. read the God of Buddha - the buddhist are waiting for the coming of another messiah to save humanity from self destruction. what you read from the simplified books suggest that buddhist dont believe in god. buddhism says that we strive for enlightenment. when we reach that stage - what happens to us - we are near / next to God. of course buddhist love, respect, worship buddha in the same manner Christian to JC, muslims to mohamed etc. so pl lets spread tolerance and acceptance of other religion without thinking that ours is superior

It os not like that at all.

They have respect for the Buddha; but they do not worship of love Buddha.

the whole thing about Buddhism is to become enlightened to become a buddha.

Its not about love but about discipline and meditation.

Nowhere in the text that says "Buddha loves the whole world nor people love Buddha very much."

Its about "respect" rather.

No, since Buddhism is atheistic. Buddha is revered as an example of an enlightened personality, nothing more.
