Actually I personally think the name 'Organic' sounds like it is something chemical- the name is misleading. It should have been called natural foods or nature's own. The name does the actual product injustice as it really is better and healthier. If you don't want veggies treated with chemicals or that have been 'DNA' altered then Organic foods are the best- it really is advertising foods that are supposed to have been the dominant food produce in the first place but life moves on in different ways I suppose.

Organic foods are those that are grown naturally without anything added or destroyed. Yes they really are healthier. No food coloring preservatives artificial this or that. Grown the way they were supposed to be grown. I used to work at Burger King and when i had to do prep and cut tomatos i ALWAYS wore gloves mind you and when i was finished cutting tomatos i would notice my gloves would be red. I looked at the box and noticed that it said "All Natural" (yeah right) red ripe tomatos. Those tomatos had been injected with something and definetly had red coloring added probably red #40 or something. But organic tomatos have nothing added they are all natural. Can you imagine that the color was being rubbed off of the tomatos! Not something that i would want to eat. Not only is it healthier for you but for the enviorment as well. it hurts me to see the air being polluted everyday. By trucks, factories, cars, cigarette smoke, etc. All the free radicals that are in the atmosphere. It's bad enough that we have to breathe this stuff in everyday the air isn't what it used to be but we have to eat things that can't even be grown naturally but have to be altered. I think i'll stay with the organics. Hope this helps someone.

There is no specific definition for growers of "organic" foods.
In theory they are suppose to be grown naturally and without adding any chemicals or preservatives to make them last longer.
Naturally grown means no artificial fertilizers, only compost and manure. so far there are no government regulations on what is "organic" so you need to really check out the product if you want it to be pure. As far as healthy, the theory is that without chemicals and preservatives you will be more healthy. no solid research there either. So, just trust your instincts and do what you think is right. The only thing I know for sure is that "cage free" of "free range" eggs are way better then the white ones. The shells are twice as thick, the yolk stands firm and the egg actually has flavor. I would definitely switch to them!

food crops or fruit grown without the use of chemical fertilisers & without using chemical pesticides is called as organic, livestock & poultry etc raised only on organically grown fodder & feed stuff also come into this category, this meat, milk & eggs would also be called 'organic'.Since harmful chemicals & pesticides are elimianted, these products hold no risk for the consumer.Raising crops & livestock in this manner is expensive for the farmer ,so you would expect to pay more for oraganic food.
