Let's stay on topic. In the least amount of sentences, someone please prove to me that GOD does NOT exist. I intend on choosing the best answer, if there is one that can sincerely prove to me GOD does not exist beyond any reasonable doubt.

Okay, so you realize that you cannot prove GOD's nonexistence.

See, gnostics, religious followers, and scientists all agree that this universe was created by intelligent design. Don't even to try use Darwin as your source because his theories have been shunned by all scientists in recent years. So the burden, in fact, is on you to prove that this univese is NOT a product of intelligent design. Newton, Einstein, and many other famous scientists all strongly believed in a creator of some sort. If you disagree with them, explain why.

And no, I'm not lazy to "look it up", I've studied years of biology, philosophy, and a year of biomedical engineering so far. My next venture is law school, also, in regards to that jury comment.

Good luck staying on topic and actually disproving all the aforementioned details :)

While I appreciate the time you took to type all that up, Aspasia, I'm sorry to say that you described the Christian GOD incorrectly.

You had somethings right, but many things were off. For example, you said that He can change any laws of nature whenever He wants, but that doesn't coincide with Christian dogma because a change implies that GOD is not everlasting and perfect.

There are many other flaws in your description of GOD, along with the idea that Christians must "suffer for His sake", all of which are untrue in the context you used them.

But I honestly thank you for typing all that... just read more about the Christian GOD from Christian works with Christian commentary if you want to accurately know His characteristics.

Any other takers?

I just hope you will never be innocently accused in a court of law, and judged by a jury with the same intellectual capabilities as you have just shown in this question.

You cant disprove god just as much as you cant disprove the flying spaghetti monster or the boogeyman. But all rational thinking skills that you have required has taught you differently. There is no biblical god. Why would you create a world and not give any proof you did. And then reward people that beleive in you and that dont need facts. Why does a book written by thousands of people somehow contain the word of god. If i write a book will you beleive in it. Why would god supposebly create something but then condemn it for being the way it was created. Please think about it without and preconceded notions. Read the god delusion by richard dawkins very good book that could help you. If it does not make you disbeleive then you will be a stronger christian or jew or muslim not sure what you are so whats there to loose. And i think you are full of it because you would know darwin is not rejected at all among most scientists. But its still a theroy anyways. Why does the disbleieve in evoulution. Somehow make religion the only other answer. Evolution is supported by fact the bible is supported by alot of writings in a book. Maybe there both wrong why does it have to be one or the other.

Well sir, which God do you want me to disprove does not exist? Obviously, there is no possible way for anyone to claim with 100% certainty that a creator of some sorts could not possibly exist. We do know however, that the authenticity of the God(s) or organized religions are impossible. I'll take Christianity for example. There is no possible way, no matter what angle of logic you take, (you could look at this using about 100 different scientific and logical tests), that humans have only existed for thousands of years.

Since the Bible clearly depicts the time-line of events to recordable times, this is impossible. Of course there are giant impossibilities in nearly every book of the Bible, but this clearly depends on how conservatively you take the Bible.

In short, you can not prove any random thing does not exist. It's basic logic. You can not prove to me that flying space turtles do not exist, and I can not prove to you that a 'God' could not possibly exist. But I can use worldly knowledge and religious knowledge to make certain structures we have now impossible in their present states.

EDIT: WHOOOOAAAHHH! Slow down. I think you have some information that is very off.

1-
In 1970, 70% of scientists were evolutionists.
Today, over 95% of scientists are evolutionists.

2.
They are in no way 'Darwin's theories'
There were many scientists working on the same information at the time of Darwin, one actually got co-credit for evolution.

3.
I'm not sure about Newton, but Einstein, while a very spiritual person, despised organized religion. He believed in life energy, but was amazed how people hadn't moved past organized religion, even in his times.

Type in, "Einstein religious quotes" and you will see what I mean.

It cannot be done. Scientists and Atheists know and acknowledge this. Being a scientist (of human evolution, no less) and an atheist, I know this to be correct. If you want the details, just google 'epistemology' or 'philosophy of science'.

-------------------

edit --

You realize, of course, that without the theory of evolution, biology (and every life science) collapses. This includes medical science, so I assume that you avoid the modern practitioners of the false medical science practiced in the developed world.

Further, if such is the case, then everything we think that we know is false and it is, therefore, impossible for the human mind to ‘know’ anything (and that would include god).

You are, at best, disingenuous about your education. Your statement about Darwin is preposterous. Combined with the inclusion of Newton and Einstein, it is clear that you are just parroting stupid fundamentalist talking points which are distortions of such major proportion as to be considered flat-out lies. FYI, Newton is credited with being at the very beginning of secularization.

But, you don’t really care about the truth, do you? You are in over your head here – too many of us know what a fool (a dishonest and deceitful one at that) you are, and the incredible extent of you ignorance and lack of proper education.

Proving God does not exist can not take place in this present society and probability not in any society.

Believing is something that goes beyond logic, so that trying to prove something does not exist while one believe that it does exist is a fight that can never be won.

I do not believe that the virgin Mary had a baby without man's penetration, but if you believe that so called miracle there is nothing on this earth that you can say to disprove if to a believer.

I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

"FIGHT ON"

I'll give you my proof He doesn't exist as soon as you prove beyond doubt He does exist.

Neither can be done.

I read the Bible, Old and New Testament, cover to cover twice in one month hoping to find what others did. Great story, but I still don't believe.

Now you add this stuff about an aggreement of intelligent design.
You'll have to show proof of your sources, otherwhise it's NOT fact.

There was no itelligent design. It was all a wonderful accident of physics.

Why would you want someone to tell you god doesn't exsist? I may not be able to prove to you that he doesn't exsist but there are so many ways to prove he exsists. You can not see the wind but you can see the effects of the wind. Just as you may not be able to see the Lord but you can see the things he does. I have prayed many times and asked for help when i thought it was impossible but if it was his will he helped me. The world began when He made it and it can only end if it is destroyed by Him. Have you ever seen car accidents that look impossible to have survived when they did? I'm sure there are many times even you have been helped by the Lord. If you are to pray to the Lord for a while and actually believe in Him you can feel his presence.
It would be wrong to ask for more proof of Him. He has given you the world to live on with his spirit. The life we live right now is almost a test to decide were we will go after we die. The Bible he has left us with to help us through our journey.

Your request is a fallacy. Formal tools (logic) cannot prove a negative assertion. The burden of proof is always on the one making the positive claim (ie, God exists). This is why science cannot prove that unicorns don't exist, and why someone asserting anothers guilt in court has the burden of proof, because one cannot prove one did not do something.

You can't prove a negative. Proof requires evidence, and there is no evidence for something that does not exist. If you are looking for a debate, the burden of proof is on the positive assertion. In other words, the burden of proof is on you to prove that God does exist.

I could say that a giant pink elephant lives on a cloud and dispenses rain on earth. Nobody can prove that my elephant does not exist - but that does not mean that everyone should believe in it.

First off, brilliant question. Obviously, some gears are turning. I am going to do my best to stay on topic, but as a Christian, my response is going to be a bit biased.

Here goes.

I cannot PROVE either or. I have faith that there is a God because of how events in my life have changed for the better. I'd grown up going to church, and haven't been to church in quite some time.

In missing church, I've been doing just that--MISSING it. I miss the feeling of a presence filling the church, people standing up speaking in tongues, being filled with God. People can call it simply the power of suggestion, but in MY faith, I have a God.

Also, another thing. When people are on their deathbeds, what compels some of them to ask Jesus to come into their heart/soul and ask forgiveness for the sinful life which they may have led? What compels people to cry and sob when they feel the power of conviction? What forces people to run to their Catholic church and divulge every secret in the Confessional to their Priest?

I don't know about many claims as far as Pink elephants or Unicorns, but to me, when I die, I am going to have faith in a God that I believe exists..

And something else. I read this on a bumper sticker....

If I believe in God, and I end up evaporating into nothingness, fine. But if I believe and he exists....then what..?

See, there's nothing wrong with living an honest life. People don't have to go out to the club and have all kinds of STD filled sex and go on drug binges. Clean up that alcoholic lifestyle and call Him your own.

Thank you for the ability to answer your question. I like a few of the answers I've seen, but many seem uninspired. Good luck on this curiously interesting quest.

Finally, it will let me answer!

I'll use a basic philosophical argument to do this, as I assume you mean the God of Abraham.

Now:

The Bible tells us three very important things about God, he is omnipotent, omniscient, and omni-benevolent. Now, in the mythos with God, there is a thing called evil, or suffering. If God is all of these things, this "evil," could not exist, as he would know of it, be able to overpower it, and be opposed to it. Since people do suffer, we come to a crossroads- God is not all three of those things, or he doesn't exist. Since it does say, "God cannot lie," in the Bible, he must be all of those things [But since suffering exists, we are down to the conclusion of non-existance.]

Also, as in my own take, God as omnipresent suggest it would be impossible to conceive of it as a non existant being.

END

Note: This is what abolished all doubt in my mind. It requires abstract thought, but that is what must be used to even conceive of God.

There, that's what I have.
