According to the Bible, if you never received the Holy Spirit you were never a Christian.
If you received the Holy Spirit, at the very least, you have acknowleged the existence of God and cannot, therefore, call yourself an atheist.
YOU CANNOT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS.
If you want to call yourself an atheist, fine. But that statement PRECLUDES you from ever having been a GENUINE Christian.

Belief is a personal choice, so I've decided not to believe in Christians. The idea of a Bible being accepted as the truth by a human being who has the same capabilities for rational understanding as I do, is just too unlikely to be possible.

i was Christian. then i was an Atheist. now i'm an Agnostic.

when i was a Christian i was a Bible thumping, hell mongering, born again street corner preacher. i believed i was charged by the Christian god to inform the sinful world of the consequences of not being Christian. not only was i positively gushing Holy Spirit but was able to convey that Holy Spirit into other people, all the praise the Lords, hallelujahs and tears happening right on cue. i was pretty good at convincing myself and others of the validity of the Christian god.

i won't get into the what facilitated my escape from Christianity but i will say that while i was in it it was very real to me. and you don't have a frigging clue about what you're talking about.

Born and raised a southern baptist and labled a christian .It has taken it seems a lifetime to finally figure it out. I have heard people who have studied the bible all their lifes say that it is confusing and they just don't understand.Believe me this is not by accident but by design.Be careful about any books that are refered to as " well they said he said." Those in power who control the information can and do control thought. We all have to think outside of the box.Anyone who is interested in really understanding religions should check out the teachings of Alan Watt - http://www.cuttingthroughthematrix.com/ his knowledge of history and the design of religion is amazing. The design of all religions is to create divisions and barriers between people and keep us from coming together to know the truth , which would enable us to make this planet ( the box) a much better place.
The Spirit of our Creator some call it (Holy Spirit) is not something that comes down from somewhere or someone gives it to you ,it is a part of you and is with you and has been from the day you arrived here. These things are true, but most of us have had this truth hidden form us for generations ,it is nothing new.Atheists are all so human beings just like you and I and many of them have had the same truth hidden from them. There are rich and powerful christians who hide these truths and there are rich and powerful atheists who hide these truths as with many cults and religions, but there was once, a man named Jesus, by the way there were many men named Jesus ,it was a very common Jewish name at this time in history .There are many men named Jesus from Mexico (Ha) but the point is .There was, most likely only one Jesus who was willing to die so that I might share these truths with you or anyone of the millions of the Creators children. It is a shame that most of us will have to wake up dead before we understand His truth.
With His perfect love for my fellow man.

Just what Jesus said it is: "being Born Again by water and the spirit" (St. John Ch. 3) - that is the Sacrament of Holy Baptism - it's something God does....an outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace. We can't earn it - God gives it to us. It's all by His Grace and His Grace alone. Once you are baptized - God made you different.

A Christen is some one that believes in God. Believes that Jesus died, arose from the grave and is coming again to take His people home to heaven.
An atheist dose not believe in God at all, and by what the bible says they (the atheist) are going to hell.

So, you are right. You can't have it both ways.

So your saying if someone put in 110% in following there Christian ways..

that if they change them mind some 2 or 10years later.. that means they were never really a Christian..
That's very small minded and judgmental of you..
and is that very christian of you to say that?

It amazes me sometimes the disrespect.
PS im not atheist so dont blame them for my answer.

Do you have a point to this rant, or are you just going off on atheists again. Guess what atheists don't give a damn what the bible or your preacher says, since they think its all just fiction anyway.

Okay, thanks. I'll remember that when I'm six feet under and being eaten by maggots.

( I was a Christian at one time. A very, very devout one. And then I turned ten. And THEN I started to realize that I had been brainwashed from the time I was born. )

someone who follows Christ precepts

ah nebtet I think I got it now - you are just someone who is rebounding and resisting and making your self and your past wrong....like the smoker who now thinks everyone should quit smoking!

what a dead end road and a cliche that is! Your a good writer! Why dont you just let the past go?
